About
Chungshan Hall in Yangmingshan National Park was built in 1965 during the presidency of Chiang Kai-shek in memorial of the centennial birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Designed by architect Hsiu Tse-lan, the hall is set into the mountainside surrounded by greenery. The classical Chinese-style of the exterior is echoed by the elegance of the interior. The hall once served as the meeting place for the National Assembly. It is also frequently used for receiving foreign dignitaries, holding state banquets and other important events. The hall is a city historic site and is open to the public.

Must-Visit

Chungshan Hall is extremely beautiful...but it isn't talked about much. Never even heard about it before I randomly stumbled upon a blog post. The architecture is great for photography and the tour guide is very passionate! Vividly sharing stories about the building and all the famous people that used to visit. Unfortunately, when I visited the 2nd and 3rd floor were under renovation and weren't open to the public. Other than that, I would highly recommend it!

A Building of historical significance
Dec 2020
Built in 1966, The Zhongshan Hall is previously the meeting venue for the National Assembly of the Republic of China. It is the place to witness the development of Taiwan’s Democratic constitutionalism.

The Hall is a magnificent Chinese palace building with green glazed tiles and white walls. The brilliant interior is decorated with the Ming and Qing Dynasties styles. In the museum, there are many priceless calligraphy, paintings and other artworks.

When I was a child, this Hall could only be seen in the News film or television. Now it has been open to the public. Admission fee is NT$ 80 for each. There are four scheduled tours a day: 9 AM, 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 3 PM. The docents are knowledgeable and engaging.

Out of the way....and undiscovered gem
Oct 2019
We stumbled across this site without knowing that it was open to the public. This former legislative building built for Chiang Kai-Shek, is a testament to style, Chinese historical and cultural inclusion, and arrogance. It was built as the original legislature building to elect the first president (CKS) and pass laws by the political elite. It has been off limits for decades and has only recently opened to the public. It is worth visiting and we were the only 3 tourists on the tour.

Every room has cultural significance built in....from the colors used to create the elaborate ceilings, to the designs on the light fixtures and furniture. It is a spectacular place.

Nice place

Worth to visit as a cultural and ceremonial place. It is inside the national park. Beautiful nature, but smells on sulfur which smokes everywhere.

Hall honours Dr Sun Yat-sen
Apr 2018 • Friends
Sun Yat-sen is a aknowledged by Chinese everywhere as the founder of modern China. He is known as Dr Sun. His honorific title is Sun Zhung-shan. Many places are named 'Zhong-shan' after him. The hall is a meeting place named in Dr Sun's honour. For many years, it has been used as a meeting place for the Kuomintang, or Chinese Nationalist Party.

Yangming night view
Oct 2016
We arrive at about 9 o'clock in the evening, and we found a resturant which was in the middle of the Yangmingshan. After the dinner, we began to enjoy the night view. One should be noticed is that the mountain weather changes, rainy season and winter easy to fog, poor visibility, should be careful driving, and should bring warm clothing and rain gear. Because, although it is sunmmer but it also cold in the night. Yangming mountain tourism, should try to follow the indicators, in the trail, lane activities, so as not to get lost accident. In the night, the foot of the street and the houses are open lights, look down from the mountain is very beautiful, like many fireflies, the only downside is that you can not see a lot of stars in the sky. But the whole is very good
