Moremi Gorge is a wonderful days outing. A series of beautiful crystal clear pools leads you to the top of the gorge. Enjoy the abundant birdlife and sub-tropical foliage. No accomodation in the village but suitable for a days outing from Palapye (40km away)
Tar road all the way to Moremi village where you register at the office and pay about P40 per person. A further 8km leads to the foot of the Gorge. The 8km is suitable for 4x4 or something a bit tougher than average car. You can safely park at the foot of the gorge where you either hike up (not too physical) or swim through the series of pools.
A wonderful day outing.

If you are visiting Old Palapye cultural site with it's great Old Church, do not miss Moremi Gorge. Deep in the forest, with water and ancient rock paintings, it is a place to remember. But, prepare for a long walk, as car has to be left long behind. If you have 4x4, you could come to the Old Palapye site, and the best is to park there. But if you come, you will face beaty of the nature in all its facets - big forest, water springs, great gorge. Breathtaking experience.

Most beautiful gem in the hills of Botswana. A little Eden hidden away in a gorge. Lovely walk and scenery.

Simply breathtaking! I never knew we had these amazing places right here in BW, the place is full of mysteries, and we enjoyed the tales as eloquently retold by our and amazing guide Zuma [he was the highlight of our trip!] came here with my friends at a paltry BWP 500. The chalets, outdoor shower and the gas braai stands were rather refreshing. The gorges and ever-flowing water were inexplicably magical and the passionate Zuma made the tour extra enjoyable! I'm definitely coming back either with family or alone just to enjoy the serenity and some moments of self-reflection

Moremi Gorge is absolutely amazing. You are taken on a guided tour where you get to see the endangered cape vulture and other birds, hike through beautiful rock formations, waterfalls and rest at a rock believed to have rolled down a cliff the same time a famous chief died symbolizing death of a great leader. All this transmutes the experience into something completely spiritual, refreshing, tranquil and different - something fun, engaging, and deeply filled with nature.

I stayed at the absolutely lovely Moremi Gorge Lodge, which is well run, amazingly quiet and an all around fantastic place to stay. Even the owner went into town the night I was there, leaving me with the crickets, the Kudu and the baboons. The approach road was a struggle, as it goes through some shallow pools, so the only way across was to drive fast enough to make it to the other side without sinking. Perhaps it would have been easier in a 4x4? Also, when they say self-catering, it is a wise man who buys his food in Palapye before he comes: food in nearby villages is expensive and poor quality, as well as being difficult to find. Still, when the accommodation is this charming, and the walk itself is this lovely, this all becomes part of the adventure.

one night was not enough! we booked a 2beds, and 1bed chalets..The people are really helpful and warm. The truest African manners i haven't seen in a long while!impressive! the elderly staff members are poetic in their speech,it tickled the deep tswana roots in us.
The chalets were spotlessly clean, with the finest finishes and an awesome view!!!
We appreciated the quietness and intimacy of the place..
then the gorge!its "beauty" is an understatement!..one of life's treasured memories..it would have not been so breathtaking without Zuma!!This guy must live forever!!!!!! He knows the gorge like his own name,we felt safe though there were quite a number of snakes,! His appreciation of his forefathers and his passion of culture preservation just made us fall in love all over again with this place!!! If you ever see this, "Thanks Zuma, you are a rare gem!"Twist, thank you for the warm smile and being the "photographer", we liked your friendly smile!
we are definitely going back,SOON!

Beautiful appointed one and two bed roomed chalets self catering all you need to bring along is your food and drink . Well kept camping sites for those wanting to camp .
A must is a guided walk up the gorge very spiritual .......
The only downside is there are no shops in the erea so you really have to see that you have brought everything with.

What a magical place! Lush green forest (even in dry season). Clear running water, beautiful waterfalls and pools all year round. And rare vultures in the cliffs as well. Excellent guides who know a lot about the area and help you with some of the tricky rock climbing.

Tar road all the way until Moremi village then it is mainly sand which could be problem for 4x2s in the wet season. Staff at the entrance were among the most welcoming and friendly I've met in Botswana.

Chalets (Separate review) are excellent too

A must stop on your bush trip itinerary...been many times over 3 decades. Plentiful game and remote so you are not overrun with neighbors as you take in the sites.
