A portion of the road is indeed a bit winding, but in a good condition and not really unsafe if you drive carefully. The place is also way less crowded than in the summer. Overall, I think it's worth going even in March... More

Best thing is to hire a car although there might be some coach companies that offer trips to Bigar waterfall from Bucharest. Roads are very good to get there and plenty to see on the way.

Hi, yes, you can go hiking to Bigar cascade and i am sure there is a public transport you can use :) Sorry for late replay
