Different bento
Nov 2019 • Family
Chisang is famous for its rice so we visited this place to seek out their rice bento. They offered several varieties and the two we tried was pretty decent. Good place to check out the different kinds of rice they sell too.

A good place to sit and rest. Toilet facilities are available. From the train station, this is an easy spot to drop by before cycling to the paddy fields.

Not really interesting
Jun 2019 • Solo
On the first floor is a restaurant of Bento, and on the second floor there is a space for exhibition. But I had impression that it was not well maintained. The old train wagons in front of the museum are more interesting.

Convenient, fast lunch
Jul 2018 • Family
Convenient and fast. Typical lunchbox food but it serves the purpose. They have a vegetarian option. You can sit inside train cars which sounds fun but on the day we were there it was so crowded we could not get a seat and had to huddle in a comer and eat standing. If it's crowded get it to go and go down to the nearby pond or a park for a more leisurely experience.

Lunch box
Dec 2017 • Couples
This is a mixture of super mini rice museum, n selling of lunchbox n mini rice mart.

You can order lunchboxes of deepfried chicken or boiled chicken, black pepper chicken etc.

Selling also 古早味 tibits, rice crackers etc.

Deco is quite 古早味,with two train cabins for people to have lunch. Quite interesting.

Outside many fruits stalls.

Jul 2017 • Family
We went there for lunch while visiting the Brown's Road. There were a lot of tourists there. It was a bit hard to find seats, but it was a good experiences to have while at Chishang. The bento were pretty good as well.

Cool museum, garbage food
Dec 2016 • Family
The museum is pretty cool but don't bother with the food. Maybe the quality was good once, but the bento boxes weren't even as good as the MREs they roll out on Asian airlines.

I was able to sample 4 different bentos. Their rice was actually not bad, just kind of cold. Everything else was horrible. Rubber egg, rubber tofu, rubber meats (in the Original bento especially), and bland stale-ish food overall. If these were served 3 days ago, they might have been decent. No wonder why there are so many stray dogs around.

There should be other places in town that sell much better bentos. Otherwise pick up a bag of the legendary Chishang rice and cook some yourself!

Unique restaurant cum museum
Jun 2017 • Couples
The museum was closed when we visited this place. However, the restaurant is unique and serves food 'bento'-style. There is an adequate selection of meals and many tables and chairs to enjoy the good food in air-conditioned comfort. You can even sit and eat your meals inside two old train coaches which are also air-conditioned. All the tables and chairs are from recycled furniture in the trains. There are at least 2 other food outlets that try to emulate this restaurant, so be careful to visit the correct one.

Lots of tourists, needs some upkeep
Mar 2017 • Friends
The lunch boxes in the shop were quite decent, but the while place is very run down. The railway cars look ready to fall apart and the bathrooms were not at all clean.

Quaint museum
Dec 2015 • Family
Museum upstairs on the history of the railway bent, how it was started and passed down with a loving attitude in making the bento. The ingredients of the bentonite, how they are made. Basically the bento has rice, braised egg, beancurd, pickled veg, pork, meat roll... We bought a beno to try, nothing fantastic but the free pork soup tasted good. Come if you have time.

Try their bento!
Nov 2015 • Solo
A great place for lunch stop before heading to the Brown road plains.
Bento set were tasty, able to sit in the old train outside, experience having lunch in the olden days travelling. There are soup and bwverages available, where u can help yourself to it. This place is always long queue, but worth the wait!
