A playful animal park
Jul 2020
The most northern animal park in Sweden. Wolves, bears, elks, lynx, wolverine. A small childrens park with goats, guinea pigs, swine, rabbits etc. It was easy to see most of the animals even though the wolverine and the lynx where a bit reserved and hide. There were bear cubs who the kids loved to see play. The large restaurant was closed due to covid but they had a wagon that sold hamburgers, langos etc. and a small cafe where you could get icecream, coffe etc. There´s a little train that you can go around the area with, which is great to get a view from.

Well worth a visit
Aug 2018 • Family
This was the fourth visit at the zoo and it's getting better for every visit. It's very nice to get a close look at the local species and they seems to thrive and feel at home. At he zoo there is an amusement park for kids and it was very popular among our grandchildren.

Great day out
Aug 2017 • Couples
The Lycksele Yoo is the most northernmost zoo with Scandinavian animals only - wolves, bears, elks and many more! It's a great place to spend a day out with kids or friends. There's also a nice restaurant on site plus kids' activities in the summer. During winter you can make an appointment to visit.

Worth a look if you are in the area
Aug 2016 • Family
A long way from the coast for a limited range of animals. The wolves, if they oblige by appearing, are a plus - as is a close up view of a wolverine. Quite hilly so not for the unfit unless you take the car-train around the zoo.

Best zoo for family. Best to walk and enjoy nature with kids
Aug 2015 • Family
We visit the zoo last year (summer) and I really do enjoyed it. don't expect so much at winter time so best to visit the park on summer time. Walking in the park and it is worth the visit, your kids will surely love it!. You can try the sight seeing "train" that will take you effortlessly around the park because I'll tell you the park is too big so there is lots of space for the animals. Animals is really take cared off! I love the Grey seal, deer and the bear ( they have small show (grey seal) by the time we went there so fun.)

Don't worry about the restrooms an food stall because they have many of it. The park also offer many activity for the kids like zip-lines, pedal boats, slides, they have also this small amusement park inside with small rides for kids. Worth it for the value for money you have paid. Will definitely come back again and recommend it to everyone! have time to visit it!!.

Nice activity for a day/part of the day
Mar 2016 • Friends
The park is only closed between Christmas and early March. The opening times vary a lot throughout the year but I think it is worth to visit even in Winter. The only difference is that the activities are not open (for kids, mainly) and the restaurant/café.
Make sure you don´t miss the feeding times and you will have plenty of fun watching the animals eating and fighting for food!
There are a lot of grilling places on the park, so bring your food and cook it there!
Some areas are quite big, so sometimes it´s difficult to see some animals, but just take another route along the park, and you might be lucky!
I recommend this park to anyone wanting to spend a different day (with or without kids) and specially foreigners, who don´t get the opportunity of seeing these animals in their countries!

Great for families travelling with kids
Helpful staff. Acceptable fee, especially since you can enter for free the following day. Sausages, soft drinks etc. a bit on the pricey side. Clean zoo, most of the animals appear healthy except for the bears that seems a bit stressed. We walked 15 km +, so bring a stroller or rent a cart. There is a sight seeing "train" that will take you effortlessly around the park (at least in summer). Many restrooms. An amusement park for the kids with zip-lines, pedal boats, slides and (small) rides. Good value for money. Will most defenitely come back.

great park

One of the best parks in Sweden. Really well-kept, nice environment and lots of space for the animals. I had to the possibility to visit it off-season and truly enjoyed it.

"I have become a regular"
Having spent many a summer in Lycksele while growing up, I have always been a big fan of this zoo.
I have seen zoos around the world, but always fall back onto this one. Though the animals are caged, the enclosures are big and filled with untouched nature. The reserve is large, and provides a good exercise for anyone. Some of the hills are very steep, and could however be problematic for people in wheelchairs or otherwise limited in their movement.
The play-area is only open in peak-season, but kids love it!

Swedish wildlife really near..
Dec 2012 • Family
At winter, do not expect to much. You will mostly se snowy fences :) . But the feeding of the predators is worth the trip.
Wolf, lynx, wolverine, fox and arctic fox will com to the fence, you stand inces from them and can fell their smell...

The zookepper is friendly and speaks a lot of fun fact about the work and the animals.

Santa has a nice house to visit also.

BEWARE-if you have children present, the zookeeper will not watch them, the kids can hang at the fence and put fingers through, they can easily be bitten of, with feeding frenzy wolverines running arond. No extra security fence there..just a small bar that kids crawl under..
