a good experience. good workout. the legs were complaining but the heart said march on :)
we went in the morning, took public bus from taichung (near train station) and arrived approx 45 mins. get the bus driver's help to inform u to alight at trail #10.
if u love hiking u will like this mountain. take trail #10 up, then #9 down. bring a walking stick, if not buy one at the bottom of the hill @ NT100.

Two days ago, I went to Dakeng Trail 9 and 10 with my Taichung friend. There were lots of vendors selling fruits, snacks, hiking wear and so on from the carpark to the trail head. There were more vendors along the trails too. There was a big sheltered resting place with tables of varying sizes and chairs. We get to see lots of fruit trees, like pomelo, longan, guava, Jackfruit, banana, along the way. It is interesting to see these familiar fruits on trees. Good introduction to nature walks for beginners and also people who like to see fruit trees.

Nice hiking trail, average difficulty. But what i like most is the vegetarian restaurant right across the street entrance. I would like to say its a delicious food, since i am a vegetarian myself, and price is affordable!

I climbed by No 9 trail and planned to descend by No 10 trail. But only a short part of No 10 trail was accessible and the rest was closed for renovation. It was pity.

The N10 route is 1 km. long- stair climbing. The route is very beautiful and well maintained. It's suitable for everyone from kids to seniors. You can climb up N10 and go down by N9, which is similar. In the end you'll be again at the starting point- the street market.

Visited Dakeng in Nov 2018, super good weather, cool and sunny! Was not raining when I was there. Staying at xinshe and there was public bus costing us about sg 15 cents per person per trip!!!!
Trail #9 and #10 are connected, you can go up one trail and come down from the other and vice versa. #10 has many steep steps, and the trail are mainly woodern steps, both ate scenic. For real beginners, just do #9, I am not totally fit but no knee issue so the steep steps are still manageable.

If you have done any trails in the US, then this trail will be quite easy. The difficult part is there are a lot of steps. So if you are not good with stairs, then you will feel like it's a little tough. Otherwise, most of it is well paved, or is built up wooden paths. There are a lot of vendors at the end of the trail before you start some of the higher ones.

How long did you take to complete the trail (from trail head to top and then down again to the starting point)?
