Historic short break
Mar 2019
There were suppose to having two wells. One was destroyed, during a typhoon, the other now rebuild & not original. The shallow water within a 3 meter square cemented platform was all that you see, other than it being build next to the sea. A very high tide would see it being covered, definitely. Only history was told on the boarding build along the sea walls. If it is a break you need from the travels, the few "seashells stalls" selling a range of seaweeds & shells - were an expensive bargain. The few of us bought a large clam shell about a foot tall & 8 inches width. We were then charged for more than half price on a same packed edible seaweed, compared to our first stop nearer the Nan-O bridge. Don't get fleece here.

Easy hour-long tour
Mar 2017 • Family
Songjing is an easy one-hour or so hike around an old 12th century complex & ruins. The original inhabitants had fled the Mongol Invasion and stayed in this area. While it's mostly woods & a beach, there's a well-paved hiking trail which is easily walkable, given time to take pictures, in an hour or so. This was one of several places we were able to visit via car, in a single day.

Cute walk under pine trees

... but since the main attraction is the well, you're supposed to hurry to look at the hole in the ground. It was the less uninteresting place on the island, it would have been worth some more visiting time, just to enjoy the scenery, but that's not how it works in China: you gotta enjoy where you spend money, not where you can stare at a tree. I guess it's OK when you haven't lived in Hawaii and Canary islands before...

Quick in and out

For RMB16, guess this is about right for this place. What you get is a historic Song Dynasty well which is still churning out fresh water. The interesting part is that this well is right next to the beach ! Also lots of rock formation if you like to take pictures there. You will likely only spent ~ 1 hr there tops.

A small area which may not be worth ¥15

This is just a small little attraction which does not excite me much even though I love history. You may go and take a look though, since it is a popular spot in the island.
