Our first time in this part of Spain. What a place! Just gorgeous landscapes with a touch of Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood. We rode the El Cid trail with Proatur and enjoyed it enormously. The landscape is vast and people scarce, vultures soaring in the sky and catlle and horses roaming the national parks. Proatur has very nice horses, but you have to insist that you get a horse suited to your abilities an taste. They do not seem to read the quetionaire you fill in when you book the tour. Our guide Ulla was a pleasure to ride with. Lots of good information on the route, the landscape and of course - the horses. Hotels are small but with character and the picnic lunches fantastic. We would like to come back.

I spent three weeks riding the Camino de Santiago on horseback through Castilla y Léon and Galicia to Santiago de Compostela. It was a memorable experience and the best riding vacation I have done so far. The landscape is amazing and changes a lot during the course of the trails. The horses are gentle, strong and healthy. I loved staying at different restaurants enjoying spanish cuisine. The tour was very good organised and perfectly accompanied. It felt like being part of a family. I am looking forward for joining another trail :)

my seventh trip with proatur, i have never been disappointed! riding the pelgrim trails through ancient forests and little antiek villages where time has stood still. It has a very calming effect, the nature is so beautiful, pelgrims on the trails either on foot or on bikes, and us on horseback sometimes in a gallop passing these people who greet us and wave us on making photographs. each trip I am impressed with the horses, real athletes and so calm and behaved, and brave! very impressive to ride through the city of Santiago up to the cathedral under police guidance! traffic lights, roundabouts, cars, busses, lorries etc.....no problem for these horses! i will be back next year!

The last part. O Cebreiro - Santiago This trail was well organised. Top-timing. Transfer from the airport. Nice, strong, gentle and healthy horses. Beautiful environment to ride. Good overnight locations, although the second place we staid, needs extra care. Peregrinos along the way. Everyone says "Buen Camino"The time was right, the guide is super, very attentive and allert. Speaking Spanish should 'be be more fun. Good that we had Annemie and Ula to translate Josè s stories. I definitely come back to disvover more rides.
