The falls are beautiful to experience in fall when the colours are alive. Parking is $6.50 for 2 hours max and very small lot for only a handful of cars. The walk along the falls is challenging for anyone with mobility issues - lots of rocks and tree roots to climb over and mud if it's been raining. Not much view of the falls until you get to the top. The best view is from above but requires a lot of climbing around the rocks to get the view.

The Oxtongue is a great journey and super way to spend a morning. We used a SeaDoo to navigate the river and had a great time swimming in the falls. It was a sunny day and the time spent cruising the river was awesome!

This is a short trail that leads to a set of rapids and a waterfall. Although it is not long, you do have to scramble up hills and over rocks and roots to get there. But it is worth the effort! Very scenic, especially with the fall colours. Hang onto your kids because there is lots to trip over.

Pay the $5.75 for 2 hours of parking, walk the short distance through some mucky patches, and you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful set of Falls. Walk a little further uphill and you’ll get to see the river before the falls go crashing down. There are some rocks to sit on and beautiful photo ops from every angle. Allow about 45 minutes to see the Falls at your leisure...and then give your parking permit to somebody else when you leave. 😊

Kayaked up the Oxtongue River to explore the Ragged falls . The paddle took approx. 50 minutes each way, leaving from Swift Kayak and Canoe. The paddle was easy and relaxing. When we arrived at our destination we parked our kayaks and did a short easy hike up hill to the top of the falls. Very very scenic and the perfect place to picnic, top or bottom of the falls. Great place to cool off in the water and take pictures. Rocks can be a bit slippery, if you are the more adventurous type, wear water shoes for rock climbing over and around the falls. Don't forget your camera.

Waterfallsofontario.com rates Ragged Falls 4/5, "large waterfall" with moderate access. All true!

You can get a 2 hour pass which is cheap but don't... spend more time! If you get a day pass you can use it at the other provincial parks too (and vice versa... so if you're in Algonquin it's just a short drive from the West gate).

At the top of the falls you can gain close access and tremendous views from a multitude of levels and angles. It is beautiful to see, lovely to listen to and the vibes here are really sweet. This is one of the nice places =)

It can get busy but there are quiet times. The trail continues along the river from the top of the falls although most visitors don't explore very far. Watch your footing... the entire time: It can be wet which makes the rocks and roots slippery, be careful! If you have kids then explain the dangers and watch them closely. Be sensitive to the health of the trail as well, unfortunately the heavy traffic through high season means this little piece of paradise get trampled. It's really cool to take clean up garbage and leave a place nicer than when you came, be a trail hero =)

The parking lot is great except when it's busy when it's over capacity! Don't ruin the vibes of this spot in the lot =)

We hiked this trail on a rainy day, was not overly busy. Car park is $14 a vehicle which is very pricy. We had a 3 yr old and a 7 yr old who were able to handle the hike. Some steep parts, lots of roots and rocks. The first view of the falls has a fence that you can see through. Once you get to the top you can walk around on the rocks and see it more closely. People were swimming at the top on some rapids. Would be nice on a hot sunny day. Definitely worth the short hike!

Hiking in to the falls in mid-winter is beautiful! Snowshoes needed if snow is fresh and paths have not been packed down by other hikers. After enjoying the view from the rocks at the very top of the falls, continue upstream if the trail isn't too icy and you will reach a beautiful bend in the river where the water is peacefully still. Snow-covered trees are beautiful to wander through or lay under.
