Lovely walk to explore the source of the stream and its waterfalls. Beautiful scenery with some exciting exploring along the way

This is a beautiful place for a picnic. The wall however is pretty tough! The walk to the first small wasterfall is reasonably easy. The walk to the next waterfall is tricky in parts with scrambling in places! You will need decent trainers, preferably walking boots. While we were on the walk someone was injured and hoisted of in a mountain rescue helicopter! This is more that just a gentle mountain stroll!

I loved our hike to the waterfalls! There are longer and shorter routes to chose from and they are well marked. We chose the red route, about 2 h long. The first part of the hike is quite steep for maybe 30 minutes, then you reach the waterfall and can continue up and to some very impressive caves and the edge of the waterfall, or then just start walking down again. The descend is not as steep. It is a popular hike so you won't be enjoying the views alone, but it wasn't too crowded either. The hike is suitable for kids. I recommend this hike for anyone who wants to have a nice day trip to a lovely place!

We turned off our tour of the Chartreuse mountains to have a quick look at this and ended up staying for a couple of hours. It’s a beautiful place to just chill out and have a picnic but the walk up to the waterfall is well worth it, although have to admit it made us puff a bit in the 30 plus heat! There’s a restaurant and toilets there too. You have to pay 3.50 euros to drive in but it’s only per car so good value really and well worth it. Great place for couples and families with small kids as there’s a shallow river they can play in. Highly recommended.

Stayed in the Chartreuse for three months holiday this winter, close to the falls. Had our dogs with us so visited many times. Quiet in winter but gets very busy in summer. Parking charges during summer months. First level of falls is easily accessible, higher levels much less so.
