Amazing to spend 3 days in Sipi Village. Our charming tour guide William Cheptoek whose experience and knowledge took me to the famous Sipi falls which is in the Eastern part of Uganda on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
As this was part of my 21 days touring Northern and Eastern part of Uganda the landscape was totally different. It was very tropical with beautiful scenery where the villages grow all their own vegetable and fruit.
We had an easy hike leading to the famous Sipi Falls where you can stand so close that you do get some sprays which was a lovely relieve from the warm weather. We also cycled though the different villages and was probably the best way to see how they live. Children all waving and always smiling as do most Ugandans.
Did a coffee tour where I got to pick and roast my own beans and then had the most wonderful mug of coffee. Being a lover of coffee this was above my expectations in terms of flavour. I ended up purchasing coffee to take home with me which also helps the local community. Planting my own coffee tree was another highlight which they tell me takes 4 years to mature so will be back to see my own tree with beans. on.
William also took us to Sundowners where you watch the sun goes down on top of a mountain. Where you can enjoy a glass of your favourite with some delightful snacks.
Thank you William for a wonderful lifetime experience and memories. Would have no hesitation in recommending your services for anyone wanting to come to Sipi Falls for an adventure

Sipi falls is one of the best hiking destinations I have visited in Uganda. There was only one challenge. The place is still lacking in organisation. The entrance fees are not standard, so you should be ready to part with some extra money. Plan for unclear parking fees, it is like the whole community is trying to earn something from these waterfalls but they are disorganized.

Getting a good professional tour guide is an essential to having an excellent hike around the falls.Unfortunately, everyone in the community presents themselves as tour guides.

With all that a side, visiting the three waterfalls more so the top of the falls is an experience worth your time and your money

Wonderful and dramatic falls which can be seen from a number of hotels / hostels (we stayed in at the Crows Nest). Worth seeing the falls up close via a guided hike, which includes two smaller waterfalls nearby too. We were tempted to hike without a guide (as is normal in the UK), but were glad we had one in the end, as the path is not so clear in places, and requires walking through a few remote villages, so it was good to have a local who speaks the language. We also abseiled down the falls which offers a wonderful different perspective of the falls. The abseiling team was great and very professional, making us feel very safe!

I just came back from Uganda, a spectacular trip of 26 days, without a guide, camping every day and cooking the food that we bought in the local markets. Unfortunately we had problems at Sipi Falls. Sipi Falls is a fantastic place, but I recommend doing the trek with a real local guide. Due to a knee problem, I couldn't do the entire trek, so I didn't need to hire a guide. We were there for 2 days. The first day they asked us for money to enter waterfall 2, very little...we saw how the person he put it in his pocket, that money was not going to go to the community. The second day was more problematic, we got information from local people about the prices, there are really no official prices, the community tries to earn some money with the waterfalls... I don't think it's bad, for parking at the upper waterfall they are between 2000 and 5000 UGX, you walk 5 minutes, see the waterfall and leave. If you are doing the full trek, they ask you for 5000UGX per person in each of the 3 waterfalls, it is not really mandatory, but it is little money and they have to earn a living somehow.
The problem came when they blatantly tried to scam us, we arrived at the upper waterfall and they asked us $25 per person just to see it, after arguing for 5 minutes we decided to leave without seeing it, when I got back to the car they told me I had to pay for it parking, I refused because I had only been there for 5 minutes and they had tried to swindle me, they blocked our exit and became very aggressive, they told us that we would not leave if we did not pay. We were held for almost 40 minutes and with a pretty strong discussion until I got tired and paid them. I am addressing all the good people and professional guides of Sipi Falls, I don't know if what has happened to me is an isolated case or a regular one, I am a traveler with some experience and this has never happened to me...it is usual Let that happen, you have a serious problem, it would be a shame if a place as wonderful as Sipi Falls, acquired a bad reputation because of a few scammers.

Don’t visit the waterfalls without an official guide. There will be people asking you for ‘entrance fee that will go to the local community’ which we don’t believe will happen. After taking a look at the falls the people blocked our car and we could only leave if we would pay. We wanted to talk with them but they became agressive. We paid 85.000 ugx to them. Dont visit the waterfalls on your own.

Sipi fall consist of 3 consecutive water falls. The longest is at a height of about 100m with a chance to do abseiling.
Various wonderful terrains and settlement along the footpath courses as well as natural and artificial caves to be seen. Not forgetting lots of coffee plantation.
There are knowledgeable and helpful local guides readily available to help for a fee

This is where I felt the like life was a different feeling, I did an activity that I have never done my entire life. Abseiling is the activity am talking about. At this point in time I felt I had lost my life for at least 10 mins of the activity. It requires being brave if you are to do the activity and enjoy it but the most important thing is to trust the system. Book your trips with me as I take you through this terror.

I never knew Sipi Falls was this nice until I traveled with a company called Grime Depths Safaris where we had amazing hiking experience at Sipi falls. The waterfalls are very beautiful, the caves reminds me of the early stone age. Simon was a good guide, had alot of information about the site and he was very jolly the entire time. I highly recommend them for tours in Gulu and Uganda

This is found in Kapchorwa districk,Uganda. It is really one of the beautiful areas in Uganda. It has green every where. The hills are not so steep. It is chilly mostly and the view is excellent. You could comfortably live here. It looks like anything can grow there.
Highly recommend you to visit.
