Overview
More
Mammoth is an impressive, gothic-like cave that could easily be described as the perfect home for a caveman. Tours are self-guided with an audio headset and begin via an elevated boardwalk through towering Karri forest. As you journey through the spectacular formations lookout for the carefully lit animal bones and fossils and listen to the stories about extinct animals. Wildflowers are abundant around the precinct from September to November. Located 22km south of Margaret River.

Located 14mins away from Margaret river the Mammoth Cave is a self guided audio assisted trip. The cave was mesmerising and informative with lots of steps to walk hence I wouldn’t recommend the very old Nor those family with young as you will need to...More

Self guided tour, included audio with plenty of information locally, historically and background to the area. Such a gem out in the middle of nowhere, but well worth the trip. You can purchase a multi cave pass and do others but we didn't have the...More

We were all ready. The light on my hat would guide me. Once inside the cave, I stood still, as it was so beautiful! There were lots of stalactites. One stone looked like a light. That was attractive. They also had bacon rock. That stone...More

Based on the advertising and brochures I went to mammoth cave expecting to see fossils in situ. Apart from one jawbone it would appear that most have been removed in the name of science. While it was an interesting cave system I have seen betterMore

Dear Stephen S, Many thanks for your feedback. We're glad to hear that you found Mammoth Cave interesting, but we're sorry to hear that the palaeontological displays didn't meet your expectations. The original fossil excavation that was done at Mammoth Cave was not done with...More

Having visited the Jenolan Caves recently, I wasn't very impressed with the Mammoth Cave. There were stalactites and stalagmites everywhere but no strikingly beautiful structures in this cave. We paid ~$22 for the self-guided cave tour. The boardwalk was well-built (many tourists were walking around...More

Dear deannal33, Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback. One of the most common questions we are asked here in the Margaret River region is "which cave is the best?". It's the only question that we find difficult to answer because all of...More

We did this cave before the Jewel, still definitely worth the visit as it is self guided with audio guide 👍🏼 and is well sorted out and fairly straight forward with interesting cave formations and information.
