A unique site in Denmark

This place is unlike anything I've ever seen before in Denmark!

This is a place where they extract calcium, but it is also a landscape resembling something from much warmer climates than the Danish one.
In this valley, there are several crystal blue lakes surrounded by sandy white hills.

You can get a beautiful view from the top, and you can walk around in the valley. I'm not sure, but I think you can even go for a swim in the lakes. There a fish in the waters, and plants around.

We found this by asking one of the locals about what to see. We would have never found this ourselves, so I definitely recommend this to anyone in the south of Zealand (Sjælland).

This is a truly amazing site to visit in Denmark.
Great overview from the spectacular viewpoint.
Several paths will take you down to the actual site with crystal blue lakes where you can walk around on your own hunting for fossils.

Parts of the quarry is still active.
Parking and access to the quarry is free, by the way.

The nearby GeoMuseum is also worth a visit while you are the.
Current exhibit is on Pre-dinosaur monsters.

A spectacular and unique site in Denmark

This is a place where they extract calcium. It's such a beautiful view unlike anywhere else in Denmark. Crystal blue lakes and sandy white hills surrounding it. Worth a visit for sure!!

Great views from the Danhostel viewing platform right in the town center. Not to be missed if you are visiting the area. Free. Open 24 hos. Plenty of parking nearby.
