We extended our self drive golden circle tour over a two days, Bruarfoss was a little add on to our itinerary and if I’m honest it was the best part. We used google maps to take us to the official car park, our friends hearts...More

So let me tell you, if you ever visit Iceland you will most likely see a waterfall every 30 seconds or so! However, this one is super unique and one of my top favorites of the entire country. There is a small parking lot right...More

Park the car on the indicated area, get waterproof boots and walk against the river flow. The walk is about an hour each way. It can get very muddy also during sunny days. You will walk on the fields with icelandic horses, then there will...More

Park the car and take an easy walk to this magnificent waterfall. The water was icy blue and fast flowing over crevasses and over stones, sit and have a picnic Really well worth seeing

The walk to those waterfalls was long but rewarding. Park at the official parking directly at the main road and follow the track at the river. You will get to a point where a sign forbids trespassing private property. There turn right and walk upwards...More

No signs to this place, so we faced some difficulties finding it. Google maps were not helpful. However, the long walk was more than worthy.

Bruarfoss Waterfall--when to fit it in? (3 Replies)
We are hoping to visit the Bruarfoss Waterfall. Would it make the most sense to visit when travelling from the Snaefellsnes Peninsula to our house in Fludir or during one of our two days staying along the golden circle? Thanks!

While you take the Golden Circle. Since it's right between the stop at Thingvellir National Park, and the geysers (Strokkur) ... then it's quite natural to visit then. Have fun !!

Is the senior in your group actively training for the Iron Man Triathlon ? If not, he/she might give up on your pace before day 5..... This fast pace itinerary might be doable with a group of 20-30 year old active people who are in very good shape. For others it might become daunting and exhausting quite soon....

Depends on how you are traveling. When the roads are open and the site is open, yes, this is doable. But it's not available now: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g18995…
