We arrived well before 11:00 a.m when the doors are open, but had a good look from the outside. Not sure one should even go inside at all. Parking nearby is an issue, so be prepared for a stroll:)

Great stop for photos and to see ancient Roman ruins. Educational for the kids, as many local schools take field trips here. A small museum at the entrance. Take the walk up to enter, as there is much to see and some great views. A small entrance fee is required. But well worth it, if you like to see old ruins.

They are ruins, no one denies that, but it is a really nice place and it allows you to dream on what it could have been. It's a very romantic place and interesting historical visit.

This suffers from lack of basic infrastructure that would make it a really fascinating visit. There is very little information. So instead of imagining the history behind the pile of stones, it remains a just a pile of stones. It was also rather dangerous in places, be aware and maybe wear very good shoes. But it is in a stunning location and definitely worth a stop.

There was once a beautiful castle on top of a rock, based on a roman settlement. It lasted 250 years or so and then it got destroyed. One way or the other, it never got rebuilt. You need some imagination to understand how it looked. In the small museum you can witness the amount of work that was done to avoid the castle to crumble down the hill. The view from above is wonderful. Today can be considered in the middle of nowhere but in the past it was probably considered on a highway, because of the nearby rivers.
