This suffers from lack of basic infrastructure that would make it a really fascinating visit. There is very little information. So instead of imagining the history behind the pile of stones, it remains a just a pile of stones. It was also rather dangerous in places, be aware and maybe wear very good shoes. But it is in a stunning... More

There was once a beautiful castle on top of a rock, based on a roman settlement. It lasted 250 years or so and then it got destroyed. One way or the other, it never got rebuilt. You need some imagination to understand how it looked. In the small museum you can witness the amount of work that was done to... More

We happened to visit these ruins on Halloween. (no special events going on for the occasion, a missed opportunity I think). It was a bit late in the day to go for a walk, but the area and nearby forest walking trails looked beautiful, I hope to return in spring or summer. The ruins themselves are not very big but... the site is beautiful, you can visit the site on your own, a lot to discover behind each corner. at the end f the visit a small movie show how the site has been renovated (kids loved it- only 13min) + a museum where objects from the site are displayed

Very nice visit with kids, you can walk around and take the time to look around. there are also caves at the base of the castle. very nice view around as it is surrounded by two rivers which merge. Small museum with what they found on site. entrance is cheap

We had a bit of fun trying to fine Montaigle castle at first as it wasn't on the sat-nav, but as we were about to give up we stumbled across signs to the castle. Where to park wasn't clearly marked, but we found somewhere to leave the car which must have been the right place as when we came back... More

My family stumbled upon this gem while visiting a well known abbey close by. We enjoyed roaming the ruins and learning the history of the chateau better than our original destination. A big plus was they have the literature available in English.

The chateau is perched on a rock overlooking two small rivers. There is a tiny museum with some interesting things and a short film in french or dutch with the history. The castle itself is completely ruined but it's a very atmospheric place with beautiful views. Don't expect to spend too long there, but there are plenty of other things... More

Ruins don't come anymroe ghost-like! The place is terrific if you arrive on foot or by bycycle across the woods or in the valley of the Molignee. You can get here by the "Draisines" after quite some pedalling. Although the on-site museum isn't that impressive, the views from atop the castle are what you dreamed of when you built that... More
