About
Plavinci organic winery is the only winery in Serbia that makes wines from organically grown grapes. Situated on a hillside overlooking Danube river, just 25km from the center of Belgrade, it is an easy half-day trip. Hand crafted wines, stunning views and quiet setting make a visit to Plavinci a great experience. There is no tasting room - the owner will receive you in his home where you will feel like visiting an old friend. Up to 12 people can comfortably taste wines in winter. In the summer, a large terrace will accomodate up to 60 visitors. The terrace, with its summer kitchen, is available for private events as well. By advanced appointment only.

Travelling in the region, we booked a visit at this small organic winery. No regrets. Just pleasure. Wine tasting was excellent, accompanied by a plate of cheese and meat cuts and home made pickles. We also had a very interesting conversation with the owner Branislav around wines, food, organic cultures and lots of other things. And all this in a very beautiful scenery of šumadian region. Perfect pass time.

We've followed Plavinci development from the first harvest and visited annually. Every harvest appears better than the previous ones. We can never bring enough wine back to the USA to last until the next visit.

Me and my partner had the pleasure to spend a lovely afternoon at Plavinci Organic Winery in August this year. The winery is located in a very acessible and easy-to reach area close to Belgrade (around 30min by car). Please note that for now you must always make an appointment in order to visit the winery.

Branislav explained and showed us all the process of making wine at his vineyard. He is currently producing 3 wines: red, rose and white. They all are very special and interesting wines. Some of the best that we have tried in Serbia! We end up buying all of them and we hope that someday we will be able to find them in the Netherlands as well.

The tasting during summer can be done inside his house (with some nice music and a good air-conditioner for the hot Belgrade's weather) or on an outside area that can fit more people. As we were just the two of us, we had the tasting inside. We stayed for around 2h talking about wine, Serbia, and all sort of things.

If you are around Serbia, make sure to visit Plavinci winery, it will be a great experience! We will surely come back if we are in Serbia again, thank you!

Previous reviews covered just about everything; facts about the fantastic wine, the absolutely wonderful location in combination host that beats the most...wine also being delivered to embassies in Belgrade should tell about the quality.
This is a place the egoist inside you don´t want to tell about - you want to keep it for yourself for your own pleasure.

It is always good to see you. Too bad you are leaving Serbia soon. But you'll be back, I know. And I and the wine will be here. Older and better :)

On a recent business trip to Belgrade I took an afternoon off to visit local wineries. Belgrade has its own wine region, with 13 wineries with protected denomination of origin. The appellations are to the south towards Lazarevac and to the east towards Smederevo, with no direct road between them. Time being a factor, I could chose only one direction. Lazarevac is a coal mining town, while Smederevo is a port on the Danube - no brainer. I visited two wineries. This review is about Plavinci Organic Winery. The other winery, Jeremić in Smederevo is reviewed separately.

Plavinci is the only Serbian producer of wines with certified organic grapes. That should be a reason enough to visit, but wine is also superb, specially red Indigo. The setting is stunning. On top of the low hill overlooking mighty Danube river with vistas to die for. Production is tiny, 3000 bottles a year from 3 acres. Everything is done by hand, from vineyard work, through pressing in an ancient wooden basket press, to bottling and labeling. Natural fermentations and no additives. Indigo is a single vineyard red from Regent grapes. Unfined and unfiltered. Very thick, powerful, Mediterranean style wine. Harmonious tannins and acidity. Extraordinary. Cilibar is an unusual wine made from a Serbian white grape Panonia that has been macerated for a week. Though not truly orange wine, it has fuller body than most whites I've tried. Aromas of apples and peaches, with aftertaste of red grapefruit.

Plavinci has no tasting room - the owner will receive you in his home. 8-10 people can fit in the tiny living/dining room at the time, but in the summer, a terrace with views can easily accommodate 40. There is a summer kitchen. Great for parties. No regular hours - by appointment only. If the owner is available to receive you, don't miss it.

If you want to do take a break from bustling Belgrade, please consider visiting Plavinci winery. Set less than an hour drive outside of Belgrade, you will be transposed to rolling hills that will make you feel like you are in Tuscany. the winery is the first organic winery in Serbia, and the owner Bane is a wonderful host. The wines are delicious especially the red made from the unique Regent grape.
