If you are staying in Brussels or even in Antwerp to visit Belgium and you are interested in plants, nature or science: do go and visit this place. You will have a lovely walk on a well kept domain and the the big greenhouse is the star of the show. The domain is big enough, so it will never be too crowded. Seeing everything at a good pace will take you 3-4 hours and you will get 10,000 steps in your legs, so be prepared. Not sure about the connection with public transport, but it really is a hidden gem and worth a visit.

Having been to and very much liking Kew Gardens, we were delighted to visit the Botanical Garden in Meise. We had a fantastic visit, although we were not able to see everything - yet. So we will be back here for another visit. Highlight most definitely is the main greenhouse, which offers an interesting journey starting with the first plants that were on earth millions of years ago. The only thing we didn't liked that much was the Kasteel van Bouchout. It dates from 1150, but clearly missed a theme: was the castle the main exhibit or the art inside? We felt a bit lost, exploring it. However, the viewpoint does offer a spectacular view over the botanical garden. I'd say a must visit if you're in the neighbourhood (it's about 40 minutes from Antwerp and 30 minutes from Brussels) and definitely worth a detour if you're not!

This place is a very nice option for those that like to be outside in naturr 'inside', particularly when walking with little children. Interesting for the elder and the younger ones, a nicely presented and maintained variety of plants of all origins. Even though flowers are rare in November, it was a very nice experience. The absence of any complaints from three young children during a two our walk further demonstrates that everybody was happy.

We were very surprised to find such a well maintained place offering so many beautiful spots to see. Kids as well as adults would love walking there and you will find out that each plant and tree has a tag name! Another surprise was the botanic gardens in the green house (covered by glass) - a huge variety of plants arranged by different climatic area. What a delightful view on the castle was it for us, while swinging on the hammocks hung under the shading trees - this was so much fun! I'd like to come again in colder days and pretty sure the park will be attractive all year round. Tip: bring plenty of water in hot days and prepare sandwiches and snacks for a little picnic. There are plenty of nice benches around as well as a picnic corner :)

I can’t imagine a single person that doesn’t find anything here he or she likes. It’s a nice place to walk in beautiful nature and experience the more exotic species in the glass area. There are always nice things to do with the kids and they can enjoy themselves while you are enjoying some basic but correct food & drinks in the beautiful Orangery with sunny terrace and beautiful view. There is also a picturesque pick-nick place near the beautiful castle. Check the calendar for events
