Lucky, lucky day. West coast is often rainy and almost always super windy, many visitors have reported feeling 'sandblasted' after going to this location, but we hit a rare calm sunny day. Well maintained track head with limited parking, cafe, toilets and a couple of...More

This is among the top three places we visited in New Zealand. The walk itself to get to the beach is superb, and the beach, especially on a low tide, is magnificent, like a giant mirror, a place from another realm. The fact that you...More

It will take most people a bit longer than 20 minutes to actually get to the beach as there are some challenging sand dunes to negotiate at the end. But well worth the effort to get there and enjoy this pristine west coast beach. Wonderful...More

We walked there for the sunset. The landscape in the area is soooo beautiful. The colours are amazing at this time of the day (after 6pm). Nice walking tracks in the area which we didn’t do.

If the stile was removed I could have accessed the track. From what I have been told the track could be made accessible with a bit of work to improve the camber. I couldn't go with my family as a result.

Coming out of the car park (where there is plenty of parking and long drop toilet) the immediate path is up! But, that is one of the main ups. The path (including a few styles) goes across the farmland / fields with great views. It...More

Although it’s only a 1km hike to the beach, it’s so worth it! The sand is amazing with a backdrop of beautiful rocks with seals laying about. Truly a Microsoft screensaver sight.
