It was a very nice tour. Friendly young women showed us around their beautiful village and explained a lot about living on the countryside of indonesia.
The most authentic view you can get.
Do it!!!

We highly recommend taking the tour! It's the best thing we've done for a very long time. You learn and see a lot and it's for a good cause. Helvi and Hiko were amazing hosts and guides who spoke good English so we could ask and learn a lot about agriculture, religion and daily life. We are absolutely flashed! You get to try a lot of local products and get a nice lunch at the end. It's a bit of walking so be prepared. You can also buy some handicraft but noone will push you to buy. Thank you so much for the tour! If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

The Mas Mas village offers guided tours through the real life of a typical Lombok village. We got to see the school, the community center, various handicrafts (absolutely no pushing to buy anything) and the beautiful rice fields. There is nothing staged for fake, just the real life. The kids at School (mainly the Girls) were happy to practice English.
If you want to see real life, this is excellent. Especially our 12 year old really liked it, but there was also something for the smaller kids.
This is a social project. The benefits are distributed to the good of the whole village.

If you want to really experience and integrate local culture on your travels, this is your place to start for Lombok. These people do not change their way of life to make way for tourism, but stick to their roots and proudly show you exactly what their way of life is like. From participating in ceremonies to plucking and cooking your own local foods, beautiful scenic interpretative walks and visits, among other activities, you will come out of your stay a few steps closer to becoming Indonesian :)

Pak Habib and the Masmas volunteer (YES, the program is fully run by volunteers!) team are setting a great regional example for sustainable, participative community building that relies on tourism but goes much further: Apart from sustaining the local economy, your contribution will help them clean up the village, educate villagers, improve infrastructure and plant trees. Do take the time for a few chats around a few coffees in Masmas, you may be surprised about how much it adds to your stay in Lombok.
