On our recent holiday to Eidsvoll we cycled to the Emerald mine on a sunny Saturday and spend a good few hours there. We enjoyed the walk around the mines and then sat at the waters edge for hours looking for Emeralds with a picnic....More

A nice experience and fun to to. But to get to the place where you can search for the emeralds, you have to walk a fair distance through some elevated terrain. We ended up with some pieces of emerald, which you get to keep.

I have enjoyed the emerald mines on several occations. It's really nice on sunny days but it's perfect to hunt for emeralds in dusk rain (the water makes the green pop!). Friendly and helpfull staff telling us about the emeralds and how to find them...More
