I had a wonderful experience with KBA. So many reasons to recommend this place. Here are just a few of a long list:
1st: Justin, the instructor who took care of me, who is also the owner. I had taken many lessons in many different places but I was still struggling to ride upwind. But thanks to Justin, in less than one hour, I could manage to ride upwind successfully!! Justin corrected me all the foundamental details that I was missing, step by step. He might seems a bit rude when coaching, but the results are there and in fact he’s a very cool guy. That’s just his way of pushing you to give the best of what you can do. Don’t get me wrong, he also supports you and motivates you during the lesson.
2nd: The location. I was there during end of December for the new year holidays. At this time of the year, the good spot is at Chaloklum. It’s a great location: a lagoon with shallow water and an amazing view inside the bay.
3rd: The shop is managed by Justin and his wife Dina who are very welcoming and very helpfull. When I was there, it was super busy because the wind conditions were good and Dina was always doing her best to find a solution to the customers even though they were fully booked.
I will definitely go back!!

I was on the island for a few days and contacted Justin to get in a session. When the wind was up session was confirmed, great kit and location. Coaching is brilliant as all the guys could tell me exactly what I needed to hear.
Wind was light however the boys switched kites and got me up and riding with some great advice to unlock a first ride !
I'll be back to this school for sure.

We have been travelling across Thailand and visited many different Kitespot whilst making promotion video's for the KBA organisation. Each Kitespot in Thailand is unique on its own, but Koh Phangan has stole our heart. Not only the vibe on the beach and the community but also the kitesurfing conditions are beyond our expectations. We are both kitesurfers for 15+ years and didn't really know what to expect of the Thai kitesurfing conditions. We are very surprised about the good conditions!! So don't expect to be riding with an 10m2 all the time. There is usually a very constant wind for average 12-14m2. Justin is a great manager of the KBA centre and is always on the beach to offer help and answering all your questions. Absolutely loved it! Such nice people and great local community. Everyone is equal and no "macho" behaviour on the beach nor water.
I would highly recommend this to anyone that is considering kitesurfing in Thailand.

This was not in plans, but I saw them kite surfing from the ferry and found them on the island and took two classes. Overall it was a good experience because I didn’t die and learned how to navigate the kite. There were some language barrier problems with the instructor and their pricing is confusing, but other than that I was thrilled that I tried this with them and would definitely continue learning with them if I come back. Thanks guys

If you plan to try Kite surfing try no where else except here. I found Justin and his team top class with great communication and very friendly atmosphere. My 13 year old son wanted to try but I said he was too young but after 5 lessons his very patient coach Sam he had him surfing on his own. To be honest Justin and KBA made our holiday on Koh Phangan. We will hopefully see you all again in July and my son Ronan says thank you so much for being so kind to him.

The care and dedication these guys put into making you a proficient and safe kiteboarder is honestly unreal. i take my hat of to justin for creating an environment of pure education without a shred of ego. cant recommend these guys enough and i am very happy and proud to be considered kba family now.

For someone who didn’t have any basic skills or knowledge or ideas about kiteboarding, this KBA school on Koh Phangan is a perfect place to start the lesson! Location is paradise! There is a large shallow water lagoon, where was perfect for the lessons, the water is also relative warm, the wind is good through out the year. My instructor Sergey was also very professional and patient! He could spot on where I needed to improve. Most importantly, I think the patience and encouragement of the instructor was helping me building confidence to continue on having the lessons in the future which I find very important. Also thanks to Justin, who has arranged the timing for the lessons, and also for keeping in touch with me through out the course to see how it’s going. The entire team from beach boys, to the instructors were very organized and professional! If you are on Koh Phangan, give this a try, it will have become such an invaluable experience for you!

If you are in Koh Phangan and want to Kite Surf, get in touch with Justin at KBA. I've done 2 lessons so far, and am stoked for the 3rd lesson of the 3 day course. I saw good reviews for KBA online, and still wasn't sure who I would go with to start learning.
Then a close friend of mine on the island told me about his experience with Justin, Rookie and KBA as a whole. After two lessons, I can personally attest that KBA is a wonderful option if you are wanting to learn Kite Surfing. They also offer rentals, so if you already have your IKO card, or once you get your IKO card from doing the course, you can rent with them.
They are just really great people. I always see them offering tips and feedback to people who have rented, and have really helped make my first two lessons an experience where I want to keep learning this awesome and exhilarating sport.

We had used KBA before in Phuket so were happy to try the team at Koh Phangan.
Whilst the winds were not great, when we did get on the water the standard of coaching was first class, I was with Justin and my wife with Yanick and we both had a great time and learned something additional.
Communication was excellent about upcoming weather conditions and lesson timings flexible based on when the wind & tides we right.
The whole team are awesome and had a bit of time to chat and also pick the brains of Mike Muller, who shared some very useful knowledge.
Highly recommended, we will return.

For me I had very good feeling since I contact Justin. He is so nice guy and care about every single aspect. Everything overpassed my expectation. Good environment, good equipment and 100% focussed on me. In europe I would pay 2 or 3 times more for the course. In KBA I have got a personalized course one to one what it makes very big difference. Now I can surf upwind and i control the kite with one hand after 6 hours class. Thanks you for all and continue being like that.

Hi Eva, as kitesurfers we'll be headed back later this month as the wind has already begun. However KBA don't hire windsurfing equipment as far as I am aware but you will get a quicker reply via their Facebook page or using the WhatsApp numbers listed on their website.

Siamo a Koh Phangam adesso. Vento bellissimo, spiaggia e spot fantastico , team veramente da conoscere, Justin il manager persona molto friendly, cordiale e professionale, isola stupenda non solo per kite.
Torneremo per Natale, vento buono dicono come durante l’estate. Però si cambia spot e si va a nord in una baia bellissima. Ci siamo stati oggi. Prezzi molto bassi e bungalow da 10 a 40 euro al giorno.

Hi I am looking at coming to Koh Phangan from 16-20 October to do the 3 day kitesurfing course. I am a total beginner but I have tried surfing and wakeboarding before. Is October a good time to come? Also, would you be able to recommend some accommodation near to your centre? Thank you very much.

Apologies for the big delay in response time... October is generally a slower month but we still do get wind (just not as consistent and on a daily basis)
We can try our best and work with what we have got... and if it is windy enough I will definitely encourage you to give it a shot with us @ KBA Koh Phangan.

We are located at Lime and Soda resort - it is a budget resort but is very nice with a pool as well... 350-700 baht per night depending on the room type.
