afternoon trip on the loire river
Jun 2019 • Friends
We took an afternoon trip on the river, on a traditional local boat. Very good organisation and the "toud" was in very good condition; detailed explanations from the tour guide made this experience memorable

Wonderful trip

A glorious couple of hours spent on Alain’s boat and a highlight of our week in the Loire. It was very relaxing as well as informative - and an excellent way to get to see the river. Highty recommended.

History, Beauty, and Preservation
Jun 2018 • Couples
The trip in a traditional boat along the Loire River lasts about 3 hours in which you will learn more about the region and the role of the river in its unique identity in France. Patricia Kennedy is a native New Yorker, but has spent her adult life living in France. She is very knowledgeable about historical places of interest as well as current preservation efforts to sustain wildlife and habitat. While the boat is a traditional wooden craft, it is very comfortable and you are offered a glass of wine from the region.
Patricia is fluent in both English and French, and she is passionate about sharing her joy and love of this special place with visitors.

Marvelous Trip. Can't Wait To Return
Jun 2017 • Family
My wife, my daughter and I traveled to Anges recently. Friends had recommended we take a boat trip nearby in Le Tnoureil, from Rêves de Loire et d'Ailleurs. We were not disappointed. The authentic hand-crafted, flat-bottomed boat was truly a thing of beauty. Somehow we had imagined the river to be built up. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Loir is truly a wild river. The whole area looks pretty much like it would have in medieval days. Even our daughter, just entering her awkward teenage years, and not always that engaged, had a great time.

Our guide, Patricio, was extremely knowledgeable, poignant out floe and fauna, local architecture, the history of the magical Loire She also recommended local wineries that we might visit, which we did and those tastings “dégustations,” were marvelous. She was even able to point us to a wine store in Paris who sold us a “wine suitcase” that allowed us to easily travel back to the US with a dozen bottles.

The blazing sunset that ended our trip right on cue, was gorgeous! Better than we could ever have imagined. We choose to think that Alain and Patricia had arranged it just for us. Thank you.

Peace and tranquility on the beautiful Loire in a picture perfect riverside village
Sep 2015 • Solo
The most delightful experience on the river Loire. Going out on an old sand dredging boat with local guide and boatsman Alain is like stepping back in time and seeing the beautiful riverside village of Le Thoureil from the water is a delightful experience. Spot the birds and wildlife, enjoy an apero with the sun going down or just sit and ponder life. If the wind is in the right direction Alain cuts the engine and sails the boat as it would have been done in days gone by. The silence and tranquility on the water is sublime.
