Two landforms: Ilheu Grande and Ilheu Pequeno created this uninhabited place. This volcanic islets formed by submarine eruption is another example for volcanic history of Terceira. Nowday the islets itself are protected area and home for many marine birds as well for the endemic mammal Azorean bat.

Interesting story of why these are here (come and find out for yourself!) Zodiac ride out, quite comfortable. Figure 8 around islets. Good perspective of shoreline and Angra on the way back.

Located just a short drive from Angra is the tiny town of Porto Judeu (Jewish Port). Wander through the quaint town center consisting of just a few colorful buildings, including a church and post office, then make your way to the coastline where you will find natural swimming pools and a trail leading to a few geothermal vents. Also, while near Porto Judeu, don’t miss a stop at the Cruz do Canario Viewpoint where you will have wonderful views of Terceira’s southern coast and the nearby Ilhéus das Cabras (dual islet).

This are the famous "Ilhes das Cabras" at the Terceira Island. You can send them from a lot of viewpoints over the island. We were told by the locals that you can actually visit them.

Had a wonderful time with ocean emotion. My boyfriend does not swim and they made sure he felt safe and comfortable. Because we were a small boat and tide was down we were lucky enough to be able to enter the caves at Cabras islets. The staff was able to share history of the privately owned islets and what inhabitants are/were there. Beautiful views from all sides, rock crabs, stingrays in summer.

Interesting islets, whose history is worth knowing, A troubled history of possession of the same. Considered an ecological reserve is in private possession.
