We have our own fleet of comfortable luxury vehicles for the tours which we organize. You can select the vehicle type best suited for your trip. We offer some vehicles on self driven basis too. We hired a bus for our annual staff trip and we chose Mahaweli Tours out of quite a few other services we talked to. Mahaweli Tours was the first to respond to our query. They also sent me the details such as quotations, driver/vehicle details in a matter of minutes after the request which is an important aspect because time is money. That really shows professionalism. That is something that most of the services lack nowadays, so it stood out for me. The driver was also very polite and well experienced. I can confidently recommend this service to anyone who's looking for a reasonable price and a quality service.

Cab service to all the beautiful locations

I was so excited visiting my motherland Sri Lanka after 5 years and I had planned to spend my birthday weekend at a beautiful bungalow overlooking the Laxapana Falls in Kiriwan Eliya. After I arrived my hopes were somewhat dashed as the vehicle I had planned to travel to this beautiful location last minute advised me that they couldn’t provide the service. I was very worried thinking that I might not be able to find a vehicle to travel. Luckily I found Mahaweli Cabs phone number and the minute I spoke to Prasad I was very happy 😊 His willingness to fulfill the customer requirements was at its best. He immediately assured me that he will organise a vehicle. Thereafter all the places I visited throughout my holiday I traveled with Mahaweli Cabs. All the drivers were very punctual, friendly and reliable. I highly recommend their service to anyone as they value their customers highly. Mahaweli Cabs will be my transportation whenever I visit Sri Lanka again. Thank you so much Prasad and Nilanka 😊

Siri Lanka, a wonderful experience

We booked a 14 day tour with Mahaweli Tours, including 7 days with a personal guide, to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The whole trip was a wonderful experience !! From the moment we arrived until we left we were well looked after. After one day’s relaxing in Negombo, Prasad, the Manager, introduced us to our Guide - Saliya. We travelled to Sirigiya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Udawalawe, Unawatuna and Mount Lavinia. Throughout the journey Saliya gave us insight into the history , customs, religion and agricultural regions of Siri Lanka. He went out of his way to buy flowers and arrange a cake celebration for our Anniversary. Saliya introduced us to many roadside delicacies and ensured our safety at all times. Even after our 7 day tour was over Saliya followed up every day until we left to ensure that we were still enjoying Siri Lanka. Thank you Mahaweli Tours, thank you Saliya - you are more than a guide - you are a friend !! We will be back! (Andrew and Eva)

Do not use this company. Very rude owner

Very rude owner of this company. I spoke with him the day before my journey and advised the number of bags ( three large and one carry on) and that to date they have fitted in a standard car with large boot in Uk, India and Sri Lanka .He assured me he would send a new comfortable vehicle with large boot. The vehicle was small, old and had dents and rust on it and I was told one bag would have to go on the back seat. I did not wish for my elderly parents to be cramped like that on a long journey and insisted on a larger vehicle as promised. The price was already higher than elsewhere but I had agreed to pay as the booking was through my hotel and a large and comfortable and reliable vehicle had been promised. After complaining to the owner again and already running late he was very rude and told me to look elsewhere! I refused to pay more than his already high price as he had been told I needed a car with large boot. The hotel lobby manager had also seen my bags and agreed they would fit in a large car when the booking was made. I spoke with the transport owner who finally agreed to send a larger vehicle at the price agreed. The van we eventually received was 13years old and was stopped by other drivers as the buffer was hanging off. It eventually came to a halt after climbing the hills to Nuwara Eliya and had to rest and drive slowly for the remainder of the journey. The lovely young driver Nilanka who came was however very professional and dealt with the problems as best he could. He is a true asset to the company. He told me the large car had broken down the day before and other large cars were out on trips. The owner should not have wasted my time and been rude and blamed me for his vehicle issues. I was going to ask this company to arrange further transport and tours to Ella,Yala and Galle but am glad I didn’t . I would never use or recommend this company

Dear Sir / Madam, Sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have faced during your tour. But, i would like to clarify few things abut your review. 01. As per the review I understand you have booked a vehicle through a hotel / agent. Not with us directly. And as a policy those hotels or agents never allow their customers to communicate with the travel company directly. Therefore we are very doubtful about the first vehicle you are talking about. As we have never received a call from a hotel or a customer through a hotel contact number. And these hotels / agents have multiple suppliers and not we are not exactly sure whether it was some other supplier. 02. When it comes to pricing, we do not have right to decide the price for the customer. It's the hotel / agent you book through decide and negotiate with you. We have given our minimum rates to them and they add their margin on the price and tell you. Therefore it's not fair to comment about the high price here. 03. About the large car / van, we received the call on the particular day morning and we sent the van to the hotel, By that time you were angry and in an upset mood with the previous car matter. Also you have mentioned the vehicle is 13 year old one. I really can not understand how did you come to that judgement. It's a Toyota KDH van manufactured in year 2016. Even the Toyota company started manufacturing this model about 12 years back. I accept the loose connection of the front body kit and it was not a fault of the vehicle. He must have driven carefully and slowly as Nuwaraeliya is a hilly area. And thank you for the positive things you have mentioned about Nilanka the chauffeur. You may have tire to release your anger through us. But i feel it's not fair for us as many travelers will read this and the can come to a wrong conclusion. Once again feel sorry for the inconvenience caused and we could have avoided it if we were contacted first. Thank you.

The Utmost Professional Service

Mahaweli Tours are a must. Prasad helped bespoke my trip to Sri Lanka so that I had the trip of a lifetime, everything was absolutely seamless and Prasads local knowledge helped me make the best decisions as some of the places I had in mind would not have been suitable for the time of year I was there.

Nilanka was my driver for most of the trip, he is a remarkable young man with a passion for his job, he was very attentive and went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable and that I got the very best out of the excursions.

If you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka you will not find a better Tour Company than Mahaweli Tours.

Car transport on ten occasions between Sri Lanka highlights

During our 2-week trip through Sri Lanka we used car transport services provided by Mahaweli Tours on altogether ten occasions, including from the airport to Colombo, on to Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, national parks, south coast, and back to the airport. The service was most of the time excellent, with drivers arriving on time, good comfortable cars, and very friendly, considerate and safe driving (in all but two times when the company used the services of secondary tour companies whose service was of a somewhat lesser quality—both drivers and cars). We also appreciated highly that our Mahaweli tours drivers would point out and stop at highlights such as waterfalls, tea plantations, picturesque train bridges, or to visit Dambulla caves, without the need to pay for extra time spent or such.
Communication with Mr Prasad, the boss of Mahaweli Tours, regarding the logistics of the individual legs of our journey was always very good and timely. When the originally planned train ride from Kandy to Ella did not work out due to overbooking of the seats (at the peak of the Christmas holiday season), Mr Prasad spent an hour with us at the train station trying to get us on the train, and—when that failed—provided us with an excellent car and driver for a replacement road trip to Ella. Highly recommended tour company!

Safe drivers

We took a 4 day holiday over the new year to Kandy and used Mahaweli Tours to arrange our day trips and airport transfers. Prices were reasonable, the cars in good condition and the drivers were extremely safe. They also did not pressure us to do additional stops on our itinerary (which happens fairly often in Sri Lanka).
Prasad was our main point of contact and he could not have been more responsive.
Having used other tour companies in the past, I will definitely use Mahaveli Tours on our next trip back to Sri Lanka!

8 nights rountrip on Sri Lanka

We had a great time in Sri Lanka. We covered everything from Safari, different Temple visits, Lion rock, Train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, Tea factory tour and many other aktivitets and views throw the Beautiful landscape of Sri Lanka. Our guide Jehan was very serviceminded and professional, gave local information and adopted the program to make our trip safe and enjoyable.

Great experience...

We booked customised cab tours for 3 days and train tickets from Kandy to Ella. The car was in good condition and our chauffeurs had answers to all our queries. Prices are quite reasonable in comparison to other tour operators or Uber and PickMe. I would personally recommend Mahaweli tours to my friends and family for their respective trips.

Shoutout to their owner Prasad and chauffeur Nilanka for truly raising the bar of Sri Lankan hospitality.

P. S. - Nilanka also told us upfront where to avoid guides, thereby saving us some decent cash.

Highly recommended!

Exellent experience...

We are now back home after a couple of weeks holiday in amazing Sri Lanka, organized by Mahaweli Tours & Holidays. This was handled in an exemplary manner and contributed decisively to a fantastic holiday experience in Sri Lanka. The communication with this agency worked perfectly during the trip and we were continuously informed in a clear way regarding our daily program.
Not least, we want to highlight our guide Saliya Bandara who for a week in a safe and secure way drove us around the country. Saliya was remarkably flexible in relation to our wishes and he also took the time to show us places that, as far as we understand, were not directly included in the planned program. It was also very interesting to get more informal information from Saliya (who also speaks excellent English) and he felt more like a new friend than a guide doing his job.
