It doesnt look anything special from the outside but it is well worth stopping, buying a ticket and going inside. The amazingly well preserved rosepainted walls are really special and quite unique. Dont miss it if you are passing by this way.

The church looks like an average church from the outside. There is a volunteer inside who tells the story of the church. Very pretty carvings.

The Stordal Rose Church is unlike any other church I have ever been in. The outside is nothing special, but, the inside is absolutely spectacular. It features paintings and decorations on the outside that are original and in great shape and unlike anything you will have seen in other churches. The flood of color and the density of the decorations are overwhelming. This is well worth seeing and I am very glad that we did. It should only take you about an hour (or less) to make your way through the church. There is a small museum next door.

If you are on a cruise, do the tour backwards small church on side of road, well kept its 40kr pp unless it a family 70kr and 30kr if you happen to be a group of 8.

A very fascinating old church with an interesting story. Due to several factors, the painting in the ceiling and the walls have not faded much, giving you an unique insight into how these churches were decorated in the 18th century.
It is partially built using materials from an older Stave Church.
