This place can be either great or disappointing..... If you want to enjoy the "central area" of the hot springs, I recommend going early in the morning, otherwise it gets very crowded as it is a popular picnic spot for the locals. Also, at the time of my visit, there was a substantial and extremely noisy construction activity. While this will probably result in huge future improvements, for now, it can be rather bothersome. The main area is also quite polluted with trash. But - if you want to have a great experience I recommend walking deeper into the wadi. What a beautiful time I had! I found several beautiful and crystal clean pools where I was completely alone, soaking in hot water and enjoying the views. Also, if you will walk even farther pass the pools, you can enjoy the still quietness of the wadi with nothing but the sounds of birds and wind, and have uninterrupted time just lying on one of the huge flat boulders and staring at the blue sky.

The place itself, the hot springs the nature - all amazing. The problem - as George Carlin says - are the people. The place is small, and it is a regional attraction, so unless you are lucky and arrive really really early, do not expect any privacy or peacefulness.

Because of its growing popularity, there was some renovation taking place on the pathway to the springs making it quite challenging to walk to the stream.
However once there, and you soak your feet in the warm water where the many small harmless fishes begin to nibble at the dead skin on your feet it's absolute bliss. You get a tickling, tingling feeling while they are doing so and it's a superb feeling. In the end, your feet feel great. I would definitely recommend this place as although I have gone through many foot massages by various people, this is definitely the best "foot massage "I have ever had and that too by tiny fishes.
Ps. The water in the very shallow stream was so noticeably clean and clear that you could see its bed at the bottom very clearly

Al Thawarah Hot Spring is one of the most exciting places to visit in Oman and should not be missed if you're visiting Nakhal. The hot Spring is not far from the Nakhal Fort.
There is a man-made pool that one can bathe and the Spring moves through a river where a stroll in can be refreshing. The place is normally packed with people during the weekend so better go in the week.

Crowded most of the time
Better to avoid going there during this pandemic corona .
Other wise the place is Amazing..
Close to the Nakhal Fort, along a winding road framed by palm trees as far as the eye can see, are the Ain Al Thawarah hot springs. To this day, locals use the springs as a trusted water supply, and there is even a small pool to enjoy the therapeutic properties of the mineral water.

A great place to visit with family . children are so happy to be here as water is not much cold and there is no fear of drowning because water level is only knee deep . You can relax and plunge into a world of serenity . Natural fish spa can take you to a state of euphoria that too without spending a single penny ! Make sure that you use the waste baskets there and don't litter . Its a beautiful gift of nature , don't spoil it .

Al Thowarat is located near Nakhal fort in Bathina region. Is an ideal stop for a picnic during the "winter" months.

A excellent place to spend the weekend. There is a hot water sping, with a nice pond where you can relax. If the same is too crowded then, you can sit in the wadis and enjoy your day. Lot of fishes in the water so dont miss the free fish spa on offer by dipping your leg in the water....

It's wonderful hot water spring coming the the mountain rocks going to small pool then go the whole area. People swim in this pool other like to walk immersing their feet in this running water, which runs through the whole area irrigating the trees there also passing down the old hirtage masjid as ablution source,.

We went there on Day 2 of Eid ul fitr (June 16,2018). That place was over crowded.. there were people everywhere. The place is very cool, since there were hundreds of people in a limited space we couldn't spend that much time there.... but this could be really a fun place to spend a quality time with family during week day. There is no access of public transport in this area, so either you should have your own car, hire a taxi or arrange a tour with company. There is no entrance fee. Some coffee shops and restaurants are available nearby.

Is it open every day, all day? And what about Nakhal Fort?
