This church is NOT a typical European Cathedral! Built in 1180 during the time of the Black Death, this was a wooden church built by a seafaring people. Inspite of its imposing exterior size it is incredibly small on the inside. Well worth the visit and stop at the museum too.

Visiting the Borgund Stave Church was like stepping back 800 years in time. So well preserved and interesting to see. The church guides are a wealth of knowledge and speak excellent English.

An extraordinary ancient church, made all from wood, and the walk along the kings road to it is well worth it.
