I would highly recommend diving with Nico and Tamar who manage Lazy Turtle. Even before getting there, the communication from Tamar was speedy, helpful and informative and she was so accommodating as we tried to streamline the different needs and requirements of our group. She even organised our accommodation which was across the strait. Watching the dolphins play in this channel while waiting for the dive boat to pick up each morning was especially special. Diving with Lazy Turtle was awesome. Their boat captain was fantastic; he knew and understood these waters so well and was very responsive to reading the conditions and advising on whether the planned site was a good option as we arrived. We dived with both Nico and Tamar who guided us around with enthusiasm and ensured we got the most out of each and every dive. Alor has everything: walls, sloping reefs, muck/sandy bottom areas, beautiful coral, incredible macro, and an immense amount of creatures. Fish literally everywhere. I had read there are challenging currents here; we did not experience any during our 6 days diving although we did go in between full and new moon when currents aren't at their strongest. This also meant we were not there during the right conditions for possible hammerhead sightings at one of the dive sites...I guess I'll just have to go back for this!! Thank you, Tamar and Nico, for an awesome trip :) I really hope to come back soon!!

From start to finish my experience with Lazy Turtle was excellent. Communication was quick, equipment hired out ( regulator for me and a full set for the friend I travelled with) was in good condition and the snacks provided for our surface interval were always delicious. I always felt safe and well looked after by both Nico and Tamar. They knew we enjoyed a muck dive and did a great job accommodating this. They also quickly found out what our favourite fish are to spot and shared in our excitement when these were spotted. The captain was also great! He could tell almost instantly if a site was going to be safe to dive or not. We could tell there was great communication between him and Nico and Tamar.
The accommodation arranged for us by Lazy Turtle was also great and just added to the relaxed adventure sort of feeling of Alor. Seeing dolphins in the strait most days from the steps of our accommodation was an added bonus. I have written a separate review for Marangki Kepa
Overall: I - and my friend- wished we could have stayed longer and had more time to enjoy the dive sites of Alor with Lazy Turtle .

I dove with Alor in Dec 2022, right before everything closed down for the rainy season. This is some of the best quality diving I’ve had in decades. Reef and fish life is like the ocean was 20+ years ago. Mauricio is one of the best dive guides I’ve ever dove with. His enthusiasm about all the sealife and knowledge makes diving with him exceptional. I hope to return and dive with Lazy Turtle again in the near future. It’s a small operation, which makes is even more personalized.

I intentionally visited Alor only for diving. I dived with Lazy Turtle Dive Alor in June for 6 days, 3 dives per day and one night dive. In total, I did 19 dives. Can't wait to revisit.
Diving with Lazy Turtle was one of my best diving holidays. Tamar was so sweet.
From the beginning, she always replied to my messages and queries. She arranged hotel booking, airport transfers and transport from the hotel to Lazy Turtle and from Lazy Turtle back to the hotel. In sum, she had arranged everything. I stayed at Simfony hotel. If I have a chance to revisit Alor, I would like to stay at Marangki Bunglows on Kepa Island. The Bungalows are managed by Lazy Turtle.
The dive trips were great as there were a small number of divers. It was only me and Tamar for 4 days. The other 2 days, there were another 2 divers. I really enjoyed the beauty and super healthy coral reefs of Alor. Tamar was attentive and good listener. She has a great amount of knowledge about Alor's dive sites and marine life. We did two morning dives and had lunch typically on Kepa Island. Snacks during the break were delicious. Food was yummy.
I liked all the dive sites I visited. Top three on my list are the Edge, Bakalang Jetty, and Kepa Corner. Despite visiting the Yellow Corner twice, I didn't have much luck to encounter any hammerheads. First time in my life that I saw bamboo shark eggs and stargazers.
I highly recommend Lazy Turtle Dive Alor. I will also dive with Lazy Turtle Dive again should I revisit Alor. I didn't dive with Nico this time. Hopefully, I will be able to dive with him in my next visit.

We did some really good diving before coming to Alor.
But we like the diving with Nico and Tamar so much that we extend our stay not only once, but twice!
Both did a superb job, Showing us the great variety of divesights Alor has to offer. Small groups and nice long dives.
In cristal clear water we had a satisfying mix from critter over beautiful healthy coralreefs to impressive walls. Sometimes no current sometimes reefhooks are needed.
Our personal highlights were the caves and the nightdives - still stunned by all the new memories.
We stayed on kepa island and the pickup for diving always worked perfect.
Thank you again for the wonderful time!

The four days dive with Lazy Turtle Dive was amazing. Andy took me to many places with beautiful topography, caves, shark watching and mucky. Admiration never stops at every dive.
Well maintained equipment and free nitrox tanks make me more comfortable while in the water.
The friendliness of Andy and Maree also made it easy for me to communicate and fun. Thanks to both of you and the crew, I will see you again when I travel to Alor!

Best DM to guests ratio (1:3). Very helpful and informative. They arrange everything from airport pickups, accoms, and diving. All you need to do is be there. Dive spot choices are excellent and tailored to the individual preference and skills. Thanks Tamar and Nico.

Thanks for the great review Tungky. It's appreciated. We do try our best to keep group sizes small (max 4 guests) and match divers with similar skills and dive styles. We're very happy to hear we got that right for you.
Best wishes, Tamar.

My girlfriend and me did three days of diving with Lazy Turtle and it was the best diving experience I had so far. Fantastic divesites for all levels.
The shop is pretty new, so the building is not totally finish yet, but it will be very soon. We had our own equipment, but the rental gear looked also fine. His boat, the naughty nudi, is new and really fast.
Andy and his girlfriend are very nice and welcoming people. He always checked the current conditions before the dive and really takes care of safety. Our dives were a great mix of small and big things to see. Andy is a really good spotter.
If you want to dive in small groups, where safety is not only a word, I highly recommend to go with Lazy Turtle. You will not regret.
Thank you Andy and Mary for giving us unforgettable memories.

First to dive in Alor, second time to dive with Andy (Andrew) whom i met when he guided in Bali diving safari 3 yrs ago. Felt good of his guiding thus got in touch with him again.
Mobula, eagle, hammerhead, silver reef, bamboo, (and their eggs w little shark insidr the eggs), thresher, white tip, blk tip, these were the sharks i saw in my 9D dive trip in Oct 2019. In a dive, a few blacktips stared at me for a long time without moving, i thought they felt really puzzle who this 'thing' is, so funny.
Other of my love included Rhinopia, frog fish, leave fish, madarin (one of the pairs were mating), brown octopus, long arm octopus, at least 12 kinds of butterfly fish, different kinds of shrimps included my favourite ones of boxer and marble shrimp, long nose hawkfish, long nose pile fish, at least 6 types of trigger including lots of clown and baby blue trigger (sleeping sweetly when we went night dive), tuna, travelly (hunting a fish ball), milkyfish, blennies and tobies that would come out from their cave holes often.... too many good stuff...
Accommodation is primitive, bungalows on a small island opposite to the main island. Pros is its location as all dive sites are within 5-20mins, cons is there are only 2 hrs electricity generated by generator, and the water supply is weak. As the dive shop is situ at the main island directly opposite the bungalow, we hv to rely on Andy to help charging batteries for camera, and rinse equipment and wetsuit at dive shop in the end of the trip. We took one day to adapt to the basic facilities and figure out the logistics, and we settled nicely afterwards. Imagine its the cock to wake u up, and birds singing on top of your roof in the morning, its so sweet!
(it may takes at least 30 mins drive then boat trip if u choose to stay in the town, do we prefer staying in the convenient bungalow esp. as we do 3 dives per day)
Many many thanks to Andy and Maree. We enjoy our dives and trip very very much. Most happy that its my buddy, who met Andy for the first time and dived in Alor for the second time, who said she would like to come back.
We will definitely go bk to dive again.
Tips: bring more spare batteries if you take photos or videos, and bring spare chargers so that u can charge at Andy's dive shop as well as in the place u stay.
My buddy is uploading some photos of lower recreational standard of us on their facebook page.

If you are contemplating booking with Lazy Turtle - 100% do it!! I just spent 5 days diving with Lazy Turtle in July 2023 and they were amazing. Very responsive to my initial enquiries and incredibly efficient at arranging transport from the airport and accommodation on Kepa - all I had to do was roll off the plane.
Nico and Tamar do a fantastic job of taking into account the wishes of divers, making sure different skill levels / experience are considered, along with the need to ensure snorkellers on the boat also have a great experience. This is a serious juggling act, but they manage to pull it off successfully each and every day.
The diving in Alor is spectacular - the healthiest coral walls I've seen in a very long time, anywhere in the world. Due to the topography in Alor which can produce strong currents, conditions can be challenging. Nico and Tamar always prioritise safety above all else and choose dive sites based on client skill level to ensure everyone is comfortable.
In addition to all of the above, Nico and Tamar go all -out to be environmentally friendly and sustainable, recycling items at the end of their lifespan and turning them into something else.
I highly, highly recommend Lazy Turtle if you are considering a trip to Alor. Word is getting out about how fabulous they are, and they are often fully booked, so best to get in touch early.
