There were ten in our family group from teens to grandparents. We turned up at Benagil beach not knowing what to expect but fortunately we managed to book the boat within the hour for just us as ten is the max! We did the longer tour of the caves with Jude and enjoyed the whole experience, admiring the boat manoeuvring skills of our pilot, Super Mario and seeing some of the secluded beaches. Caves were great but we all enjoyed most the thrill and spills of racing back! Benagil cave was so busy we chose to exit quickly and enjoy going further towards Armacao de Pera.
Things to know: adult price is for over 10s; you need to take your shoes off to enter the boat and take shoes on board (ask guide to put them where they stay dry); as your feet and ankles get wet suggest wearing shorts; it’s no problem to have your camera on board.

We went with Taruga tours for our trip around the caves and opted for the 1 hour 15 min tour by boat with 10-15 people max per boat. It was amazing!
Life jackets are provided and your personal belongings can come onboard with you, if you have no car etc to store them ( they may get a little wet - bottomOf our bag was but nothing major) Masks were worn by tour guides for Covid which was good and you could sit with your bubble then on board. It is outdoors so it felt safe.
Joao and William were our tour guides and they made the trip so special! Told us everything there was to know, took us to some unbelievable caves and areas that are not accessible by foot and we had a 15 min stop over in Benagil cave itself for photos and to enjoy it!
We spotted some dolphins and the tour guides went out of their way to show us and it was amazing!
€30 per person is all this trip costs and personally feel it’s worth a lot more!!
Highly recommend this tour and group for your trip, you will not regret it! :)

The day we visited Benagil, the waves were huge and unsafe for kayaks and paddle boards - we originally booked a kayaking trip with another company which was ultimately cancelled. Worried that we would not be able to get to see the caves on our trip, we walked up to Taruga Benagil Tours and they happily accepted us.
We took the Traditional 1hr 15min boat tour with an excellent guide, Victor! Victor did an incredible job of educating us on the various caves and sights along the tour and was impressive with his ability to speak to all of us visitors (in English & German!). Our captain was Super Mario - who truly earned that name! He managed to navigate the rough waves and still get us to see many of the caves, including Benagil Cave! I was incredibly impressed with his driving skills!
I highly recommend this bout tour when visiting Benagil as we got to see much more of the coastline and cave than we would have if we did our original kayak tour with the other company!

We booked on Wednesday to hire kayaks for Sunday morning.
The acknowledgment email states pending with confirmation in 12 hours. We didn’t receive any so tried to call multiple times but no one answered. The emails just bounce back.
A reminder was sent at 11pm the on Saturday night but still no confirmation.
We drove to the beach and no one could explain what happened but happily sent us to another queue 20 deep to see what they could do even though the details of our booking were clearly visible.
Overall waste of time, especially as there are many other companies that provide what they do so we left and will rebook with a decent company.

We did a 90min tour of the coast from Portimao along to the coast as far as Benagil, with Josef and Super Mario. It was excellent: a perfect combination of fun with the speed boat over the waves and educated commentary on the beaches and caves along the way. Our party of 11 aged 8 up to nearly 70 all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Josef was excellent in English and French, and it was lovely that Super Mario stoped the boat both for a sight fo a jelly fish and to pick up some plastic he spotted in the sea as we passed. The journey back was particularly fast and thrilling! Really recommend this excellent trip!

Brilliant Tour and highly recommended. The tour covers many caves, spectacular views of the caves and coastline and stops for you to take a swim too. Our tour guides Santos and Dutch Boy were superb adding to an unforgettable experience - Id openly recommend this to anyone as a great way to spend an afternoon in the sunshine experiencing a sensational coast.

We arrived at the time we’d agreed only to find that the mist had set in and waves were aggressive; our start time was pushed out four hours. The local beach entertained us until we were ready for the off. Once on board our skipper/crew, Fabio and Rafael gave us unparalleled access to the caves along the coast. We squeezed our boat into some caves that we never thought was possible.
Fabio and Rafael were very attentive and not only gave us a great holiday experience but also some memories that we’ll be taking home with us. Thank you for the instagramable photos :O)
If you are in the area then invest 300 euro in an hour with the lads, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We took a boat tour along the Benagil coastline with Santos and Joal and had an amazing time. The scenery is beautiful but Santos made the whole tour interesting and exciting with his great presentation a facts, intimate local secrets about small beaches. He let the group get out in Benagil cave and take some photos and took us into caves that required brave manuevres. Santos created a great athmosphere, we were always waiting for the next moment of surprise, he has great sense of humor and involved is all in the conversation. If you ever visit Benagil coastline make sure to book with Santos and have an unforgettable experience. Thank you

I’ve had this on my bucket list for so long and it really was excellent! I had a look online in advance and these guys were very highly rated and their Instagram photos and videos are beautiful, so we just drove to Benagil Beach, found some parking at the top of the hill and bought tickets - super easy and you can pay with card. The tour guide Arno was extremely good - he spoke 3 languages on our trip so all the passengers could understand all the information he was sharing about the coastline, the history, etc. The captain Mario was very good as well and drove us right into the caves so we could have a look around and take photos. 10/10 would recommend doing this trip, especially with this company!

Booked a private tour as there were 8 of us, the earliest possible in an atempt to avoid too many people a too much heat.
Everything went as well as it could, good weather, great views and a fantastic 2 man crew, Fabio and Rafael, both of whom were witty, friendly and had good knowledge of the area, it’s geology and history, as well as great skills to keep us close enough to the rocks without a single glitch.
Took me long enough to do this (been coming to Algarve for years) and couldn’t recommend it enough!

En las cuevas de Benagil se puede descender del barco para hacer fotos

Sí, hay una única parada de unos 15 min en la que puedes bajar del barco y tomar fotos en la Cueva de Benagil. Pero únicamente en la "visita tradicional" de 75 min.
Bonjour nous partons en Algarve le 26 juillet et nous aimerions faire la grotte de benagil en kayak nous sommes 3 (2 adultes et une enfant de 13 ans) faut-il une expérience pour louer les kayaks ? Et comme nous sommes 3 comment fait-on si vos kayaks sont doubles ?merci

Lo suyo es reservar, y aún así te cancelan la reserva si quieren. Si no reservas tienes que esperar a que se liberen, tal vez horas. Casi nadie lleva mascarilla, y menos los que organizan la actividad, si te preocupa el coronavirus no lo recomiendo.

Hello! I would like to know which Tour I should buy in order to get off at least 5 minutes to the Benagil caves. I read that the 39-minute tour is basically just a walk through the area.thank you

Hello. Yes, the 30-minute tour does not allow you to get off the beach. The same company also makes another tour, of longer duration, which instead should allow a stop on the beach.

Wybraliśmy się dziś na 1h15m rejs wzdłuż wybrzeża by podziwiać jaskinie i plaże niedostępne z brzegu. Skarby Portugalii! Kapitan Fábio S. zapewnił nam bezpieczeństwo na ocenanie w czasie wplywania do jaskiń, wiele ciekawych historii związanych z miejscami które wiedzieliśmy oraz dużo adrenaliny- zwlaszcza przy wplywaniu do waskich jaskiń oraz lądowania na plaży. Cudowne wrażenia warte każdego euro.
Today we went on a 1h15m cruise along the coast to admire the caves and beaches inaccessible from the shore. Portuguese treasures! Captain Fábio S. provided us with safety when assessing entering the caves, many interesting stories related to places we knew and a lot of adrenaline - especially when entering narrow caves and landing on the beach. Wonderful experience worth every euro.
