I enjoyed the visit here but was expecting more. It was a very rural location 1.5 hours outside of Kampala and is at the side of the road. There are a few shops around but no formal centre for this attraction.

I enjoyed the visit as it is not everyday that you get to stand with one foot inside the southern hemisphere and one foot in the northern hemisphere.
The experience of the water draining in different directions worth doing and you get a certificate all for UGX30,000.

I did this independently as some tour companies charge a very large amount. I easily had enough time to do everything here and was only 30 minutes tops.

Lovely information about the world globe. Its a must see and worth the tip for the guide to show you the anti clockwise and clockwise information. The restaurant is not great for food but the crafts are worth bargaining for if you want souvenirs. I would recommend you visit it, few kilometres away from kampala city centre.

This is on both sides of a highway which leads to Rwanda and also Kenya (in the opp. direction). This place is more like a stopover than a destination for most people. For 10K UGX, you get to see a guide perform the water test to show how the water drains differently in the northern, southern hemisphere as against the Equator. For another 10K UGX, you get a certificate of visiting the place. There roads on both sides are lined with shops and restaurants hawking local wares. You can also buy a small icecream cup from a dude on a cycle. It is all very authentic and interesting.

The line crossing the equator in Uganda is represented by a small monument.
This is a hoop made of concrete, on which Uganda Equator is written on top, and on the bottom the letters S & N between which lies a metal tape.
For a good photo, you can stand in a circle in such a way that the left foot will be in the northern hemisphere, and the right foot in the southern hemisphere and vice versa.

We drove for about 2hrs from Bukoto to visit the site where the equator runs through. The demonstration of the clockwise vs. anto-clockwise spin of water as it drains in a bowl in the Southern vs. Northern Hemisphere is interesting. The place has a nice cafe with clean toilets as well as several shops selling trinkets, and other artifacts aimed at the tourists who stop by. There is a circular monument on either side of the road where you can click photographs and if you do look at Google Maps on your phone you will notice that the blue dot indicating the current location does indeed lie on the dotted line indicating the equator. Overall, an interesting experience.

We stopped at the Kayabwe on our trip from Lake Mburo National Park back to Entebbe. The equator runs through the village. There are monuments on either side of the road that make for great photo ops. There are also restaurants and souvenir shops along the road.

What a surprise to pass the equator. We were driving from entebbe to Bwindi and our driver stopped so that we could stand on the line! I found this sooooo thrilling …. And the guy there does an experiment on either side of the equator line with water and a petal. I loved this. I can’t believe it stood on it 😆

During our journey to Queen Elizabeth Park, we stopped at the Uganda Equator It was a fun and memorable stop! We got to see the water demonstration that shows the Coriolis effect and we took some great pictures in the area. We also had lunch there and the food was delicious We loved this place and really enjoyed our time there!!!

It was a cool quick stop. It was nice to see the 0.00 on the compass. I thought the water experiment was pretty cool. It is free on the road, so worth the stop. Maybe tip the water experiment people. Also a nice place to shop for souvenirs.
