Okay so the feeling as you step into Sao Beach is kind of mixed. You can't help but imagine what the place must have felt like 20 years ago when there was no tourism boom. Remove all that plastic, noisy crowds, restaurants and jet skis...More
I have to admit, I was disappointed. Supposedly one of Phu Quoc’s nicest beaches. It is long and wide and the sand is beautiful. You can walk out into the ocean a long way. The turn off, it’s littered with garbage and seaweed. I saw...More
Do not go - Serious health hazard!
This beach has a lot of dogs and the sand contains worms eggs from their feces. The eggs go through your skin and a few days later ... you have worms in your feet (cutaneous larva migrans). If...More
The beach at Paradiso is definitely the best and cleanest part although it feels a tiny bit arteficial. If you came by motorbike you'll have to order a drink to park for free or pay 100.000VND parking fee. Beds are a whopping 150.000VND to rent,...More
We only went here once during our journey, but we liked it. We had lunch on the side of the beach that was on the end of it, further away from the centre with all the shops and so on.
It was nice but nothing...More
We visited as part of the Phu Quoc hop on hop off bus tour. The beach here is not very wide and what beach there is is covered in sun loungers. Having said that it was pretty. It is worth a visit but the beaches...More
Everybody says "nice beach". It's ok, nice to go there but not an amazing beach. If you have time you can go and take a rest otherwise if you miss the beach it's not important. Still many garbage on the sand.. but good view.
After seeing all the photos of this beautiful beach we were a little disappointed by the amount of rubbish on the beach and the number of activities happening: parasailing, jet-skis, etc
Phu Quoc is a beautiful island still very young in their tourism history, they...More
Contrary to what I read so far, Soa Beach is really nice with just enough people around (99% Caucasians) for the place to feel alive. Water was really crystal clear and wonderful. A few debris washed up here and there but again nothing unusual. Surrounding...More
Having read reviews I was a little put off, but we went (twice) anyway. This is an amazing beach. It feels free from all the corporate resorts and built up manicured areas which I'm sure in 2-3 years will cover this island. We paid 180...More

Ask your hotel to call a taxi and they will take you there. We spent all day there and the taxi just waited for us all that time we were there, we asked him to do that and paid him for the entire day. I'm glad we did that because the beach is quite aways and there are no taxis waiting around to get you back into town.
I sent an e-mail yesterday to Edwin about our forthcoming trip and although I went via his website, the e-mail came bouncing all the way back to me. Does anyone have an alternative e-mail address or is it a case of just picking up the phone and hang the expense.

Just tried to get into my emails to check the address I've got for Edwin but it's saying maintenance work is taking place so I can't access my emails. I'm pretty sure the email address I've got is the same as on the website though - email@example.com - is that the address that you tried?
Longtail boat ride and transport to Golden Triangle (0 Replies)
May I know what is the current price per pax / boat ( we are a group of 6, if we can do private boat it will be the best. ) for the longtail boat ride ? They all bring us to Don Sao island or is it just a cruise by the river? I tried googling for this but the articles are all dated back to more than 5 years ago. For the transport to Golden triangle, is it possible to use Grabcar? Are they available when we are to return to town?

Kite Surfing in Phu Quoc (1 Replies)
Has anyone been Kite Surfing on Phu Quoc? Has anyone seen people kite surfing on the island? The eastern coast should be a bit windier during the dry season and Sao Beach looks like a great place to kitesurf. Thanks

Hi TK 77 Yes I've seen a few kite surfers here, on both sides of the island at different times of the year. At the moment I'm on the west coast and the wind is coming from the north east. For the next month or 2 there is not much wind here but it picks up after that. Cheers
