My two friends and I traveled from Florida for a weekend of nature adventures, and began day one with a Tamul Waterfall rappel and boat ride on the river. Without having organized our plans much pre-arrival, we searched Trip Advisor for a solid guide only the night before. On short notice, our guide Marcos happily obliged to not only pick us up at our great hotel Casa Ortiz in Ciudad Valles, but he coordinated our rappelling adventure at Tamul, also planned a great lunch at a nearby restaurant AND took us on a canoe paddle and current swim through gentle rapids. Can reach him at +52 (1) 481 104 5147.

His wife speaks excellent English and can help translate for you.

I went with friends. We went very very early with a guide called Carlos ( you can find him in tanchichin camping, campamento santa anita). He suggested us to go very early (7 am) that way we wouldnt be with a lot of people and indeed, we were the only ones arriving there so the pictures are awesome. We managed to be very near the fall, which is impossible to do when there are a lot of people. It was great. After that, we enjoyed the cenote, alone once again. And then, 30 min after, like 50 people arrived. We are grateful to have found this guide. He was a very good guide because he was telling us about stories that happened in the region, talking about the fauna and flora, and the love he has for the tamul's fall. Great person. I recommend him!

Rappelling down to see this waterfall from the bottom was probably one of the best things I've done in my life up until now. It was the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen and I felt like I couldn't take it in enough!

Didn't realize it was necessary to paddle 5K up stream for the view, but it was worth it! Fairly easy with a medium size group of about 10-12! also quite inexpensive.

We visited Tamul in a group with others from the hotel. You should arrive early to avoid lots of people and bear in mind that before you see the waterfall you need to paddle upriver for an hour or so, which is tiring but worth it. We floated back down the river which was also a great experience. I think it's best to book this with a hotel or tour company as they have the best connections locally and we received two really great guides with all the equipment and knowledge necessary. Plus it is a little complicated to find!

Took this tour today. We used Mundo Extreme. They also have an office at the plaza in Xilitla. It’s a full day and a pretty good workout especially if you elect to swim and take the rapids. Meme and Adrian were our guides. 5-stars, outstanding job. They pick you up and drop you off at the hotel, breakfast is included. Couldn’t beat the price for both the Cave of Swallows and the Cascada. Beautiful views at both. SLPis a hidden gem in Mexico.

At the same time I'm shocked this is a relatively unheard of destination (at least where i'm from), I will say the lack of people there made it that much more special. I visited Cascada de Tamul in early Feb 2019.

Suddenly you are in a river, bluer than anything you've seen. Fresh waters, nice canoes to row and an amazing waterfall.

Once in a lifetime experience we embarked in La Morena (recommended by the owner of a local hotel), paddled over an hour then got off hiked up then down to another canoe to get closer to the magnificent waterfall, got close enough to take some amazing videos and pics, then we paddled back and stopped by to another area of the river hiked up a little to swim in water in a rocky cavern then hiked down back to our canoe, an all-day event
