The place is very well maintained and has shops and shop vendors who sell socks a the base of the hill. There are many other stalls also serving basic amenities. The hill is very well carved into steps and is done properly. Overall its a good place to visit especially for jains

The temple is on top of a Stone Mountain. The best part is that the entire way has nicely cut steps and railings. What is needed to climb the 600+ steps is determination, patience and a little effort. We saw some octogenarians climbing along with us. Beautiful location and well kept township surrounding the temple.

This place has a good view from the top. Also there are good many steep stairs so please beware of your physical fitness before climbing. It's a peaceful temple and can spend good time with frns or family. They have ample parking on normal weekends. Better to reduce the luggage at the cloak rooms or in your car before climbing.

I trained for several months in order to be able to walk up to the temple. Was worth it. View is great and people we met on the way up and down so friendly. We love India. This is our third trip back. So much to see in this beautiful country.

So far, I have been to this place around 25 times. I feel blessed every time I go there.

Distance (from Bangalore) -
It is about 145 Kms from Majestic and the distance may vary depending on the place you start from Bangalore.

How to reach (from Bangalore) -
Unfortunately, there is no train service on this route. But, the road is good. If you are planing to go by bus, there are 2-3 buses which directly go the Shravanbelagola (from Majestic KSRTC bus stand) around 6-7 AM. Otherwise, you may take a bus till Channarayapatna (CR Patna), every 20 minutes, there is a bus which passes though CR Patna. It takes about 3-4 hours to reach CR Patna, and from there Shravanbelagola is just 12 Kms. You can take a local bus which is available every 30 minutes, and it takes about 20 minutes to reach. While returning, there is a direct bus for Bangalore at 3:15 PM.
My suggestion, if you are 3 people or more, better to opt for a Cab as it saves a lot of time. It just takes about 2.5 to 3 hours from your house. Buses skips all flyovers, and stops at many place for passengers, hence takes double time than the cab.

What to visit-
There are two hills - Chandragiri and Vindhyagiri. The 1000 years old statue, which is also World's largest monolith is on the Chandragiri hill. There are some 600 steps to climb up. "Doli" service is also available for the needy. Footwear are not allowed while climbing, you may wear shocks, if required. The stairs were cut from the rocks itself and they have become uneven due to rains and other natural phenomenon. It takes about 15-20 minutes for a healthy person to reach on top. My advise, not to sit anywhere, you should relax by standing in between for sometime, if needed. The 57 feet idol looks pretty attractive and every time I visit, a big smile appears on my face after having the darshan. And I wonder it's been more than 1000 years, isn't it a Wonder of the World. The body of Lord Bahubali were covered by the branches of the trees when he was preaching Meditation, attaining Knowledge (Keval Gyan) in the Jungle. This statue is also carved in the same manner. There are several small idols of other Jain Tirthankars in the surrounding area behind the statue. The process of 'abhishek' can be done by the followers after getting cleaned and wearing dhoti. They allow abhishek only of the foot of the statue. Every 12 years 'abhishek' is done, which is known as Maha Mastabhishek. Last time it was in 2006, this time it will be in 2018. Devotees from all across the country come during that time. Overall it can take 2-3 hours depending on the time you spend on the hillock.
The other hill, Chandragiri has 14 temples. There are some 350 steps on reach on top. The statue of Bahubali can also be seen from the top of Chandragiri. In between there is pond.
Other then the two hills, there are 7-8 Jain temples in town. Most of the are opened only during the morning hours.

Where to eat-
There is "free food" facility available from the committee. Jain food (without root vegetables - like Potato, Onion, Garlic, etc) is provided there. Lunch is available from 12 to 2:30 PM and dinner is available from 4:30 to 6 PM. Other than this there are a few Marwadi bhojnalaya, but not all are authentic Marwadi. Some of them are big cheaters, I don't want to name any. Try at your own risk. There is one small restaurant near the Vindhyagiri entrance, which is really good, not many options are available, but basic all items are available here.

Where to stay-
Basic accommodation is easily available here. There is a dharamshala office near the bus stand. Different types of rooms and cottages are available at minimal rates. It is advised to look at the rooms first before confirming the booking.

First of all, you should know that there are more than 350 steps to climb and No, you can't take your car on the top.

It is an old jain temple which is not maintained well. It has an excellent view of surrounding places from the top.

Avoid during Summer and make sure you take plenty of water with you.

It has 57 Feet Gommateshwara Bahubali monolithic statue Northwest of Bangalore, about three hours’ drive or about two hours’ drive from Mysore. Route has swaying coconut trees but Road is not very good after getting on the State Highway. 625 Steep Steps to climb to reach the top. Pond and another temple around. Arrangement to stay for Night in Jain community halls/Dharamshala. We, however, did not stay for the night.

A steep climb on the steps on the rock face takes you to the Jain temple on top. From there, it is such a fabulous scene all around. It is very peaceful, visually appealing and a must-do if you are in the area.

One of the places protected under National Monuments Act, it is a beautiful place. Located at around 156 KM from Bangalore, it can be visited by Road from Bangalore to Channarayapattana and from there to Shravana Belgoda. KSRTC buses including Airawat buses go till Channarayapatna and from there, you can take a local bus (Very good frequency) to Shravana Belgoda (11 KM from Channarayapatana). There are two Mountains to climb for darshan. Do not miss any one of them as both of them contain memories of the time millioan year back.
