A charming surprise right on the Bay of Bangal
Charming Kuakata is really the end of the line, 3 hours by express bus south of Barisal, and right where Bangladesh ends on the Bay of Bengal. The town has all the color of Bangladesh without the horrendous traffic and noise. It is essentially one long Main Road leading down to the beach. Along it are hotels (stay at Kuakata Guest House; see my review), restaurants, tea shops (one with 'the world's most handsome Tea Guy'---2 guys and one woman all agree on this), barber shops that give facials, and massages. The Bay of Bengal waters are not pellucid tropical, but clean. The beach is deep and wide, with wooden loungers and umbrellas (about 50 US cents an hour). There is a market right down by the beach. People are friendly and helpful. We stayed 4 days and would have stayed more. We had to get back to Dhaka to catch a plane. You can take the 9am express bus up to Barisal, and catch the 3 pm boat back to Dhaka, getting there about 9 pm. It's an easy trip.

    A wonderful place, just developing
After a three - week-tour through Bangladesh I stayed for one week in this little town and enjoyed it very much. First in the very nice Kuakata Guesthouse (I highly can recommend this!) and the last two nights (because the Guesthouse was fully booked) in the new SeaCrown Hotel (also very good - not far from the beach). I like to come close to people and this was easy here. Everyone is kind and very friendly and the fresh fish from the market was delicious.

    Hidden gem in Bangladesh
Kuakata is a hidden gem in Bangladesh that deserves more recognition. This beautiful beach town boasts a stunning beach with crystal clear waters and a breathtaking sunset that is definitely worth experiencing. The town itself has a charming atmosphere with friendly locals, and there are plenty of delicious seafood restaurants to try. We enjoy it a lot and My Kids love to visit the place too.

Most amazing Tour of my life.
Journey was good. There are several Bus services from Dhaka to Kuakata. Best one is Sakura Paribahan. They have AC and Non AC buses for Kuakata. There is a problem with AC bus. AC bus does not go to Kuakata. It dropped me Kolapara/ Khepupara Ferry Ghat, Potuakhali. My Journey was over night. I reached Kolapara early morning. From Kolapara to Kuakata there is no transport before 9 AM except direct non ac services from Dhaka. There is three Ferry from Kolapara to Kuakata. It takes 1 or 1.5 hrs ( depends on Ferry).
Hotels in Kuakata not bad. I choose Hotel Nilanjona for its Amazing view of Sea.
Transport into Kuakata town is
only bikes than canbe hired on rate of Per Bike Max 500 TK with Driver.
Food is good and reasonable. Local people was amazingly cooperative.Hawkers wont irritate you in beach.
It takes total five ferry . I saw Govt. has already took initiatives for making three Bridges . As per my assumption it will take 1 & 1.6 years.

To celebrate the Bangla New Year 1421, recently I'v visited Kuakata Beach (Under Potuakhali District) also known as Daughter of Sea or Daughter of Forest as the site is surrounded by different patches of forest. Among the sandy beaches of Bangladesh the Kuakata is awesome. It is very clean and also calm with clean blue water. Labu Bagan (Lemon forest and also you can find fry of fish/crabs), Pathrar Ban (10 KM west towards Sundarban which is also the West Site of the Sundarban), Coconut Forest, Jhau Forest, Ganga Motir Char/ Island (where you can enjoy lots of different types of local and migratory birds). If you want to explore bit further to the left/east site from the Kuakata Beach you can also explore proposed Paira Port as well as proposed New Air Port also these area surrounded by Char/ Small Islands. All of this site can be seen by Motor Cycle. One bike can carry two visitors/travelers. A complete package for 15 site seeing will cost BDT 630 for two person.
Hence, I would like to suggest all of to keep bargain about the prices for every single things. From other parts of the country people of these area is bit advance and also fraud (in positive sense). People are very much straight forward about their business. Actually they are interlinked each types of business. A person always going to be push you to provide additional serves. For example a waiter of a restaurant will try to sell you those site seeing packages. A real life experiences, one photographer I met he took my cell no. and rang me about 10 times to convince me about sightseeing services at very low cost. Another thing I asked a man to took my pictures with my smart phone then he replied very rudely what would be his benefit by taking my picture!!! Strange!!!!
Visitors can be there by direct (Non AC or AC) Bus from the Capital (The Sakura Paribahan Starts from Technical More, Mirpur, Dhaka and costs BDT around 650 to BDT 1000, which starts at 7 PM. Furthermore, you can also be there by Launch from Dhaka Interrnal River Port/ Launch Terminal based at Sadarghat, Old Dhaka to Potuakhali District. A Double Cabin will cost around BDT 1100 to 1600 or a traveler can travel at cost only BDT 150 sitting on the deck of the Launch. Launch are usually starts around 5 PM to 7 PM from Dhaka and av. journey time 10hrs, then from Potuakhali to Kuakata (70 KM) by Bus (BDT 90 per person) or By Motor Cycle Costs BDT 600-700 for two persons. The journey is bit complex from Potuakhali to Kuakata as on the way you have to cross three small rivers/ channels via ferry.
Hotels are Neelanjana, Beach, Golden Palace, Hotel Sea View, Hotel Shoikat, Hotel Family Homes are mention-able. While rest houses of Govt. Agencies - the Roads and Highway, Water Development Board and also Zila Parishad are available.
For eating you can enjoy fish fry's or you can buy fishes from the fish market and ask to any of the chip restaurant owner for your desired arrangement's.
Rakhain Indigenous are the main among indigenous who leads the Rakhain Market, A Buddha Temple and also produce local products. Feel free to ask your hotel attendances for your desired arrangements!!!
Don't forget to enjoy Baul Songs at the beach (We enjoyed Baul Abdul Alim Khan's Flock Song till night).
The area is secured from every aspects. As there is no police station apart from the police sub-station and Mr Shonjoy Chakroborti is the current in charge of the police-sub-station
I have found lots of foreign people (white) who are visiting the area as the world cup T20 has just finished which hosted by Bangladesh!!!!

Kuakata is known as "Shagor konnya"(daughter of sea) in Bangladesh. It is renowned for it's beautiful sunrise & sunset view. Kuakata has a great combination of amazing natural beauty, sandy beach of "Bay of Bengal", lifestyle of "Rakhyne" & a slight taste of Sundarbans as it is situated near Shundarban (The largest mangrove forest of the world). It is a very long beach. Tourists & cost are less compared to Cox's Bazar.

The place which I liked most in Kuakata Most is the "Kakra Beach" (Lobster Beach), it is a very clean & beautiful beach. The specialty is, you will see thousands of small Lobsters running all over the beach if you go at very early morning. You can hire Tempu (A local engine vehicle) to visit Kakra beach if you are 5 or more. The journey on Tempu is also very enjoyable & you'll surely enjoy the roadside views there. I'm sharing some images I captured there.

There is also a large Buddha statue in Kuakta, which is the largest Buddha statue in Bangladesh. There is another Buddha statue made of Bronze, a very expensive one. This one is kept in a Pagoda near Rakhain Market.

It was a 5 day tour in Kuakata including arriving & returning. Transportation & road is much better than before. Another thing I would like to mention, bike, Tempo & van is the only way of transportation Kuakata. The matter which was very sad is, Kuakata main beach has been damaged badly by cyclones & yet it could not recover it's previous beauty totally.

The name Kuakata originated from the word Kua English word “Well” dug on the sea shore by the early Rakhine settlers in quest of collecting drinking water, who landed on Kuakata coast after getting expelled from the Arakan (Myanmar) by Moughals. Afterwards, it has become a tradition of digging Kua-Well in the neighborhood of Rakhaine tribes for water.

Kuakata Sea Beach, Bangladesh
Locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea) is a rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. Kuakata in Latachapli union under Kalapara Police Station of Patuakhali district is about 30 km in length and 6 km in breadth. It is 70 km from Patuakhali district headquarters and 320 km from Dhaka. At Kuakata excellent combination of the picturesque natural beauty, sandy beach, blue sky, huge expanse of water of the Bay and evergreen forest in really eye-catching.
Kuakata is one of the rarest places which has the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of crimson sun in the water of the Bay of Bengal in a calm environment. That perhaps makes Kuakata one of the world’s unique beaches.

After Sunset at Kuakata
Kuakata is truly a virgin beach-a sanctuary for migratory winter birds, a series of coconut trees, sandy beach of blue Bay, a feast for the eye. Forest, boats plying in the Bay of Bengal with colourful sails, fishing, towering cliffs, surfing waves everything here touches every visitor’s heart. The unique customs and costumes of the ‘Rakhyne’ tribal families and Buddhist Temple of about hundred years old indicate the ancient tradition and cultural heritage, which are objects of great pleasure Kuakata is the place of pilgrimage of the Hindus and Buddhist communities.

Kuakata Beach, Bangladesh
Innumerable devotees arrive here at the festival of ‘Rush Purnima’ and ‘Maghi Purnima’. On these two days they take holy bath and traditional fairs are held here. All these additional offers to panoramic beauty make the beach more attractive to the visitors. One should visit Kuakata and discover the lovely grace of Bangladesh.
The long and wide beach at Kuakata has a typical natural setting. This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal and bathing there is as pleasant as is walking or diving.

Kuakata, 35 km long sandy beach in southern part of Bangladesh, has got scenic beauty with calm and quiet nature alongside worlds largest mangrove forest Sundarban. A bit distant from capital Dhaka, around 10 hours by bus, which might be shorter in near future after commissioning of several bridges, has got tremendous potential of tourism. Other than a pleasant beach, several buddist temple, tribal villages of Rakhain along with their lifestyle and handicrafts, local fishermans lifestyle, several islands with bio divarsity including birds and red crabs plyunf over their is fascinating. Hotel fascilities are optimum having comfortable accommodation . Overall , a nice natural beach, only where we can see the sunrise and sunset.

We, me and my friends made a trip on this September. To be honest, with all that in mind to enjoy a vacation I believe Kuakata doesn't have much to offer. Cons of travelling to Kuakata is that it lies in one of the furthest corners of Bangladesh and the travel is not easy. Yet in my experience the direct bus journey was less hectic and took lesser time.

Now reaching Kuakata, an underdeveloped, yet to flourish as a tourist spot along with good choices of hotels and professionalism of the people giving services it has almost nothing to offer additional to the sea beach itself.

If you are and explorer or that sort of traveller who is just keen of being on to new places, you may get over with the overall experience. But surely it is not for seasonal vacation travellers or just say tourists.

This is a great place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Still this place is not urbanized. So, you can enjoy the unmodified natural beauty here. Kuakata sea beach is nice, attractive, clam and quiet. A tourist can enjoy the rare scene of sunrise and sunset from here.

Things to do in Kuakata -

=> vast sea, calm and quiet sea beach,

=> Ras festival [bathing in the Bay of Bengal during the Ras Purnima (full moon)],

=> beautiful scenery of green coconut grove, teak garden and pine forest, migratory winter birds in the virgin sanctuary, sailing boats in the sea, fishing in small boats, fry
collection, shell collection, surfing and diving in the seas, pagoda, the wells,

=> the largest Buddhist statue of the sub continent (at Misripara).

Beautiful sight seeing areas

=> Ganga Motir Ban (a forest near 100 ft. wide Ganga Motir Canal, 3 km. away from Kuakata towards the East),

=> Pathrar Ban (offers beautiful scenery of the continuous mangrove forest, about 10 km. away from Kuakata towards the West),

=> Sundarbans, the world largest mangrove forest and a world
heritage site (about 35 km. away from Kuakata towards the West)

The place is beautiful, but what i really enjoy here, had been the rapport with the locals...
I made a lot of genuine friendship and i was invited, without any secondary interest, to there villages, there school, there homes and sometime, around Bangladesh with them... difficult was, after 10 days, to leave not really the place, which is anyway good to visit, but those new amazing friends...
Thanks to everyone...

From Kuakata you can experience both sunrise and sunset from sea. More natural and raw comparing with coxs bazar. Very near to Sundarban, this place is very interesting from geographical point. The sea here is filled with fishing activities more. One can also experience lots of sea food here in kuakata. During my visit the sea was very calm but during rainy season it gets more interesting i guess...An ancient boat is also there to visit... you will find lots of bikes to rent to go sightseeing. Lebur Chor, kakrar chor are 2 good place among them....Overall Kuakata is a good place for a 2 day visit with friends.....

Kuakata is a nice place to spend two days. You will be able to see both sunrises and sunset, take a speed boat and explore jungle, eat a lot of fishes. The place hasn"t become a popular tourist attraction yet, so the traffic is thin. People of this area are nice and helpful. The journey towards Kuakata is a bit long, you need to cross couple of ferries but it is exciting too!
