GUANYIN BUDDHIST TEMPLE, MAGONG, TAIWAN
Nov 2019
Majority of TAIWAN population is BUDDHIST, so there are many temples in TAIWAN paying Homage to the different deities they observed. The GUANYIN temple is quite popular in TAIWAN, BUT NOT as popular as in many ASEAN Countries. GUANYIN is also popularly known by the Devotees to be The GODDESS of MERCY. The GUANYIN Temple in MAGONG is just an average temple, in terms of relics, historical value, cultural aspects.......LIKELY Magong has a small population and thus lesser devotees. The MOST outstanding GUANYIN Temples are in CHINA and surprisingly JAPAN (The WOODEN carving of GUANYIN in KYOTO Temple is just FANTASTIC both in artistic and historical aspects !). Visit Magong GUANYIN Temple if you have time on your hands and for the sake of "HAVE BEEN"

An interesting and pretty temple to walk around when it's quite. Easy to find if you walk down into the park near the island bridge

Not sure when it happens, but we lucked out going Sunday night (9pm) and they had a projection light show on the temple, followed by some amazing fireworks!! The park is also very nice for to watch the sunset!

You can visit here for having a relax day or you can swim here for a healthy day. You need to be careful if you wan to swim because your feet can't touch the ground.

Part of a larger area

This temple is worth a look but not so outstanding given other examples within Taiwan. Combine this with a visit to the recreational park and the rainbow bridge. All worth a look round. All best visited as the sun goes down to see a wonderful sunset

Temple and Rainbow Bridge
Apr 2014 • Couples
Worth taking a look at the temple. But we went to the area for the rainbow bridge which is just in front of the temple. The bridge is illuminate with rainbow colours and the reflections at night just makes it more beautiful! It was a nice place to chill and sit down for a chat in the evening. You can also walk on the bridge though it is a little steep. As Penghu is still not loaded with large tourist groups, the place is still peaceful and enjoyable.

We went during the opening day of the annual fireworks and it was fabulous! Fantastic 20 minutes fireworks display show. Very nice place to visit.
