Do visit this shrine for its beautiful surroundings, exquisite carvings and serenity. There are hundreds of stone tablets with ancient carvings. There is a beautiful pond with crystal clear water and there were several tiny rivulets running down the mountainside when we visited.

Beautiful natural temple to visit in Katra. Its apprx 1.5 -hour drive from ban ganaga hotel Maa. The temple is apprx 150 steps (big steps) downhill. From the starting point one can watcch Vaishno devi bhawan. It is very natural and has excellent waterfall inside the temple. The god is inside the cave. Its shiva temple and people say sometimes big snake comes in waterfall pond where people take bath also on shiva ratri etc..no seen though.
Overall very natural place and must visit when in Katra.

If you have one extra day after visiting to mata vaishnodevi , then I recommend to visit Dhansar Baba temple which is just 16 kms away from Katra.
The temple is dedicated to lord shiva and Nag devta .There are 70-80 stairs Downwards to reach the temple. You can see Chenab river from the temple. There is a large and beautiful waterfall near the temple.
The waterfall is crystal clear. You can see the floor of pond where water is collected. There is a cave which is dedicated to lord shiva also. The place is must visit spot. Its require minimum 2 hrs to visit.
You can visit this place by local auto rickshaw also. Toilet and Parking facility is available.

this holy place is situated around 15 kilometer from the Katra ie nearabout 55 kms from the jammu district. This holy place have natural waterfall and it seems to be the perfect location for the tourists in j&k.
i recommend the visitors to not go to this holy region in rainy season because there are the chances of landslides in this place.

I just stumbled upon Baba Dhansar mainly because we checked out from hotel and had couple of hours to catch our bus back to Delhi. It came as a nice surprise, I really liked the whole place. We didn't found many people there and the place is awesome. There is a splendid small but beautiful waterfall and those cave formations are just amazing.

Once you start towards the temple, you realise that you have to walk a long way that too by taking almost 202 steps but the considering the destination I would say, it's worth spent.

This place is truly a beauty..the natural environment makes it a soothing place, the monkeys are also an addition. The enthralling waterfall inside is something to not be missed. The story behind the temple is too very good. Wonderful experience. Totally recommended.

Man Made Temple

We came to know about this temple while talking to Lemon Tree Restaurant staff who advised us to visit this place since it was unique.
I visited this place with my wife and daughter. You can reach this place by cab. The treck is downhill and very scenic. There are mountains in thr surrounding and a waterfall. This place is blessed with mother nature. There are lots of monkeys around the temple but dont harm unless someone interrupts them or tries to be one of them.
The temple was build by Baba Dhansar who is believed to be a devotee of Shri Mata VaishnoDevi and Shri Mahadev. The temple also has a cave where all the Gods reside and its beautiful to know how the Cave is naturally designed that marks presence of Divine Gods in this Cave.
