Good place near katra

The cave is located around 70 km from katra. Chinab river flows in the way enroute shivkhori. So you can stop for rafting. On reaching shivkhori, you will have to go through a narrow cave to get inside the main place. There pandits will tell you the back story about the cave.

Religious place near Katra
Oct 2018
Shivkhori is a nice religious place, of Lord Shiva in Hinduism. Most of the visitors to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple (Katra) also visits this Shiva temple, which is in the form of a shivalinga formed by a rock. Many vehicles (private) and few government roadways buses ply from Katra to Ransoo. From Ransoo to Shivkhori, one has to cover the distance of about 2-3 Km on foor or by pony, palki, etc. It is considered that Lord Shiva resided here in this cave, before leaving to Amarnath cave. Must visit, if you are in Katra with some extra days.

This self-manifested lingam of Lord Shiva is also known as Swayambhu
Aug 2018 • Friends
Shivkhori, a divine shrine of an avatar of Lord Shiva, is located in the lap of nature in the form of a cave on a hillock in Udhampur district in India's own Heaven on Earth, Jammu and Kashmir. The 4-foot lingam was formed naturally in a cave. This self-manifested lingam of Lord Shiva is also known as Swayambhu and is of great importance in Hindu religion. According to some, the cave is dedicated to one of the forms of Lord Shiva, which is believed to be unborn and invisible. As one explores the cave, they experience the divine aura of this form of Lord Shiva. Shivkhori is an enchanting destination famous for its religious belief. The route inside the cave is challenging for many, and the thrill is worth experiencing as devotees are sure to feel blessed at the sight of the idol.
Devotees of Lord Shiva from all over the world visit the cave to offer their sincere prayers. The journey to the cave-shrine requires trekking over 3 kilometres of the route through the stunning mountains covered with lush greenery. The cave consists of naturally formed shapes or impressions that look like Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Nandi, Kartikeya, and Sheshnag. Many find these naturally formed impressions very intriguing and get drawn to this mystical location like bees to honey. The magical vibe of the cave is sure to mesmerize you, and you will want to keep coming back to Shivkhori again and again.

Visited shiv khori cave.
Nov 2017 • Friends
I Enjoyed my visit at shiv khori with my friends to get blessings from Lord Shiva. To reach at cave we trek 3.5 kms from Ransoo village in Reasi district, in Jammu & Kashmir state from where trek starts. To reach this Cave and to move out of the Cave, Devotees has to stoop low, crawl or adjust his body sideward and here in this cave devotees will see 4feet high naturally formed Shiv-lingam. In all its a must visit place for devotees who all are coming to Sri Mata Vaishnodevi because Shiv Khori is only 80 kms away from Sri mata vaishnodevi.

Visit only in monsoon and soon thereafter to enjoy the bath in the river.
Jul 2018
During our visit in July 2018,the river was almost dry and very less water flow.
THis is at the base of holy shiv khori shrine and people take bath here before going for the darshan.
Enjoy
