If your time or budget in Ethiopia is limited you have to choose between north and south and you should also have a guide for at least the main activities. We've chosen south and we are happy about it. Of course you can do a lot independently but you need much more time. In reviews we read a lot about omo tribes but the situation over there it's not that touristy as you may imagine. Very limited public transport, very bad roads, very difficult local language, obligatory local guides for the villages of every tribe.
We flew to jinka and from there we entered to a magical world.
Mursi tribe from jinka, then to turmi for another 3 tribes and then to konso for konso villages and terraces.Total 6 nights. I found it as an ideal duration. Back to jinka for return flight.
Don't hear anything about any kind of problem. Everything is peaceful and absolutely safe.
One main reason of our successful trip was our guide Bereket Tadesse Baki for messenger or whats app +251943322540. He was an excellent guide with a lot of mocal knowledge but also a nice personality. Although he is young , 25 years old, i have the impression that he has a very contact and understanding with all types of people and you can discuss with him not only things about Ethiopia and tourism but for everything. If you are young he knows a lot of tips for young entertainment too. He is working with another excellent car driver, Benjamin or Beni, and i really recommend both.
Bereket tadesse baki price was one of the most reasonable too.
Half guides in jinka have the name bereket tadesse so be careful when you choose.
Regarding tour prices i would say that medium budget is between 120 to 170 euro per person per day on a two pax basis. This is a real all inclusive price and very important photos and videos are included .Bull jumping is around 40 usd per person but it's worthwhile. The most expensive thing is car and driver so if the first day you artive in the afternoon just go around by yourself and start paying for tour next morning.
Contact Baki and you will have an unforgettable experience in Ethiopia.

We took a 6 day omo valley tour with Yonas and I must say that it was one of our highlights in ethiopia.we left Addis Ababa with Yonas and his driver Neba and felt right away, taken care of.
Yonas and Neba were the best guides we encountered in Ethiopia. From keeping us informed about the country and stopping for photo opportunities,we were fully satisfied.
Yonas joined us for dinner many times,as this was a great opportunity to exchange culture.
Visiting the different tribes in the omo was an experience beyond explanation.
I highly recommend doing this trip with Yonas, you will be amazed from start to finish.

My team and I were on documentary shooting assignment in Omo Valley (Banna people) for Arte channel this year, and I fully recommend Belay Aschalew Abera as a guide and translator to visit Omo Valley people around Key Afer (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region). Belay is serious, punctual and a precious help to access remote areas in the valley. He speaks Amharic, English and different Omo languages. He also participated in the translation of our filmed material. Do not hesitate to contact him at belaykeyafer at gmail.com

If you still hesitate to go to Ethiopia, do not hesitate! A beautiful country, tribes from the end of the world, excellent food and lovely people!
I recommend Lalo Tours for its responsiveness! We booked for 7 days just a few days before leaving and everything went very well! You can enjoy your trip with peace of mind thanks to his knowledge of the land and meet the different tribes of southern Ethiopia.
From our arrival we were at home, our first guide made us visit Jinka and its surroundings as well as its native village.
Then, we went to discover the Mursi, Hammers, Arbore, Dassenech tribes ... we had the chance to see the famous "bull jumping", seen many animals (baboons, crocodiles, birds ...) visited the fortified town of Konso etc ...
and all this accompanied by an adorable, understanding and welcoming guide and driver!
To do absolutely! Have a nice trip !

I wish to warmly recommend Robel Hailu. He is a kind and knowledgeable guide with whom we spent 12 days in the center and south of Ethiopia. We built together with him the program and agreed on a price which was very reasonable. Once we hit the road, we found out that he was more than happy to accomodate us as much as possible and was eager to show us the beauty and specialty of his country. Logistically speaking, he did also wonderfully. He brought us to the best and most economical hotels/guest houses, always let us chose what we wanted, gave us always a few options everywhere in terms of food and managed to bring local guides who gave extra value to the trip. He is a very pleasant guide to spend time with and very tactful. All in all it was a great trip - a lot thanks to Robel. Highly recommended!!

I spend an unforgettable week in Omo valley with the tribes. We visited the tribes around Jinka(Mursi), the tribes around Turmi(Hammer, Daasanach, Nyangatom) and Konso villages. It was the best experience of my life and I discovered a whole new world that I didn't know existed. I felt always very safe, I never had any problem with the locals or tribe's people. I enjoyed a lot playing and dancing with tribe's children, drawing with them and let them make my hair "rasta style". Jinka is the safest and the friendliest city of Ethiopia. I spend these wonderful days in Omo valley thanks to our perfect guide Bereket Tadesse Baki. Although I don't have a big experience with guides, I am 21 years old, I can't believe that any guide can be better than Baki!! Thanks to him, I had the opportunity not only to explore the way of living of the tribes but also to be a part of the local life of Jinka and meet many new interesting local friends, and that made the difference for me. Don't overthink it, take the decision ASAP and contact Baki to make the best out of this journey.(WhatsApp number:0943322540,Email:bereketomovalleyguide@gmail.com, Messenger/Facebook: Bereket Tadesse Baki, Instagram: bereket_tour_ethiopia)
Be prepared to enter a unique new world. This world has to be seen to be believed.
(P.S. If you ever visit the omo tribes avoid being a total tourist that means just taking photos and giving money, balloons, candys to the children of the tribes. Try to play with them and draw together. If you want to offer something more the best idea is to give them notebooks, pencils, crayons and exercise English books)

We went on a 8-day trip with Lalo Tours in the Omo Valley in January 2021 and can fully recommend him. Lalo is very reliable and organized while at the same time responding very flexibly to short term changes and special requests. A highlight of our tour was a 3-day trekking and camping experience in the region of the Hamar people - a request from our side that is not part of the usual tourist program but that he could easily accommodate and made our visit particularly memorable. Having grown up in the Omo region, Lalo knows the area very well and cultivates good relationships with local people everywhere we went.

I had the pleasure of doing the tour with the amazing tour guide Bereket Jemjem! Bereket was incredibly knowledgeable and kind during the whole experience. He made me feel very comfortable and answered my every question and assisted me in taking photos of the tribes people. I enjoyed speaking with him as well on a personal level and found commonalities that created a sort of bond between us. I consider Bereket a friend and recommend him 100% to any and all travelers in Ethiopia!

Simply life changing experience visiting Omo Valley and all it’s indigenous tribes with my amazing guide, Nairobi Borena. This guy is not just a guide, he quickly becomes your friend and does his best to ensure you have the best time. Nairobi knows a lot about the history and culture in the region and he was patient to answer all of my questions. Thanks to him, we had an incredible time with Mursi tribe, and even spent the whole day in their village interacting with them and learning about this entirely different world. Nairobi is one of the most honest and sincere among the guides there, and I recommend getting in touch with him, you can get him by calling his local Ethiopian number on +251953746706 or on whatapp on the same number.

While we were touring the Omo Valley, we found time to eat lots of delicious and local food, as well as drink lots of tea and coffee.

Nairobi is so cool to hang out with but also gives you your own space. Nairobi really is a credit to Omo Valley tour guides, I have a lot of experience with tours and tour guides all over the world and Nairobi is a one of the nicest and best I’ve met. Nairobi is a big reason why this tour is so amazing for visitors, he makes the tour a better environment and keeps it moving forward.

He’s like a minor celebrity around Omo Valley and Arba Minch, it seems everybody there knows him. I have witnessed first hand him helping me out and I’m proud to call this man a friend. He is very chilled out, open minded, cool, knowledgeable and practical character, these traits are all good assets for a great tour guide.

Honestly, Nairobi, is just a first class and if you ever get the chance to meet him, his amazing family or his friends, or do one of his tours, then definitely do it, he will have a positive effect on your life.

Much love and thanks again, Brother!
Dan! ❤️

Touring with Kali is an absolute must and an unforgettable experience. my fiance and I took a 4 days tour of south omo valley with Kali nearly a month ago and we still remember it as one of the major highlights of our two week trip to Ethiopia.

Kali showed us many of the quintessential omo valleysights (omo national park , Dorze mountain ,Lake chamo), but our favorite parts of the tour were the more hidden treasures that Kali suggested we see and do. These included the Mursi village donga stick fight ceremony , Hamar village Bulljumping ceremony, crocodile market, Bana tribe children walking on the stickand a delicious tourist restaurant for lunch that we'd have never found on our own.
The tour was exactly as described on the website(www.kaliomovalleytours.com) Kali met us on the first day in Jinka with 2020 toyota Land cruiser car and made sure that our family of four including two 12-year-olds) was comfortable with the equipment. Everything was so easy to follow!
We found our luggage waiting for us at our first night's lodging, which was a family-run Emerelad that had comfortable space with Western style beds.

We've recommended kali to friends who also had a fantastic experience on his tour. Thank you for a great tour, Kali; we hope to see you again one day.
