Very nice church with medieval frescas, certainly worth a short visit right after seeing Spis castle. We managed go get short description from local tour guide. Normally entrance is 2€, we managed to get in for free, but let small pocket money for church renovation.

This  UNESCO-listed historic church,  the Church of the Holy Spirit, is not far (4km) from the Spiš castle - the church is very small in comparison to the giant castle but fascinating in its own right. It was built in the 13th century and overlooks a small village; a few extensions, in varying architectural styles, have been added during the subsequent centuries. The interior walls are covered by rare Gothic frescoes, which attract hundreds of visitors each year. On the northern wall of the nave, are two frescoes from the second half of the 14th century: a Pieta (the Seven Sufferings), and the more famous Arbor vitae (Tree of Life), The latter is a typical example of the "Bibliae pauperum" (the Paupers' Holy Scripture). The frescoes are well preserved because the whole interior surface of the church was whitewashed at the time of the plague epidemic in 1646; for this reason, the frescoes were only discovered about 150 years ago. Part of the frescoes were uncovered in 1870 and then a number of 100 years older frescoes were revealed underneath, in the 1950s, at the expense, though, of the more recent ones. The furniture is sparse but authentic, which recalls a less embellished bygone era – the large wooden dome is from the 17th century, and looks a little too big. But a calming atmosphere.

the outside of the church is a bit disapointing at first sight , but the amazing frescos at the inner walls make you very happy. for a couple of euros the guard will lit the lights and with the description of the paintings in several languages you can enjoy the frescos

Beautiful Church from the outside
Really lovely on a hill
Inside was far to dark for my cup of tea
Nearly far to much inside
No i just Walked away
But outside took many photographs

In sleepy village you can find adorable and vivid 700-years old frescos in small church.
There are no standard opening hours, you should call before or find a lady administrator in house Nr. 80.
Or as I have read from other traveller, staff at Spis Castle can help to arrange an appointment.
