It is a nice zoo with many types of animals from all over the world but as 7 adults, we did not find the zoo that interesting. The highlight of the secret zoo is the museum satwa located just outside the zoo exit door. It is a museum of all kinds of animals displaying life animals that had been stuffed and preserved when they died. We wanted to stopped for lunch at the Jungle Fast food located in the hotel at the zoo entrance however, we were told they were closed for lunch for a group booking and it is only available after 3pm. this is the only restaurant in the zoo. The other refreshment kiosk inside the zoo only serves instant noodles and drinks.

Nice and interesting zoo, but during the pandemic not allow to take a picture together with live animal, no more feeding the animal and seems the animals has been reduce in 1 cage as the first time i came here 5 years ago. Next to the zoo, we will visit the animal museum.
Well this one of a must visit if you go with children as educational tours

East Java Park 2 is ideal as an educational tour, as it presents several zoo animals complete with its explanation. This supports education for children. Not only that, but there's a couple of rides for kids and adults to play. Java East Park 2 is suitable for family tourist destinations as a vacation option. Especially in the high season, there will be many visitors from different corners of the world. The amenities offered are also very complete, ranging from mushrooms, clean toilets, lactation rooms, spacious parking, and much more. In addition, visitors will also be amazed by the beauty of the museum available in East Java Park 2, there will be a museum containing various kinds of butterflies that spoil the eyes.

One of favourite tourist destination in Batu. Near to Golden Tulip Hotel and BNS park. Many kinds of animals from the big ones like elephant, tiger and lion until to the small ones like hamster and mouse. Birds and fish are also available here.

I was about to give it 4 star given vast collection of animals and well designed place.

However, I was really disappointed by how they treat an endangered White Tiger here. There's this final attraction called 'Fishing White Tiger'. You buy a chicken thigh for less than a dollar, put it in a rope with a stick (like a fishing rod). Then you swing the chicken thigh up down front and back, trying to out-manuver the White Tiger from catching it. That is, apparently, amusing for the audience there. I am not sure which one is worse, the management for having this fishing thing, or the audiece who actually bought the attraction. Feeding an endangered animal in captivity is one thing, it's another if you are humiliating an already caged animal.

I hope the management would consider ceasing this attraction. We do not need another show of force of human dominance over another earth's living creatures, simply for our amusement.

Going to this place with a very low expectation....First because this wasn't our main destination. We stayed in Malang to visit Bromo volcano, so we were just visiting this zoo as a way to kill time before Bromo. Second, the image of "zoo" in thirld world country like Indonesia was always "hot weather, unhappy animals, dirty". But I was surprised with how wrong we were. This zoo become the highlight beside the Bromo trip itself. I have been to the zoo in the Unites States (Dallas) and Singapore, but this one is soooo much better for many reasons: 1. It was HUGE!!! Over 200 animals from Hippo, Orangutan, Kangaroo, Moray Eel, tiniest primate, Hyena... 2. It was surprisingly CLEAN, cool, and well-designed! Located in the mountain area, so no worry about sweating a lot while walking around the zoo, and the cleanliness was excellent!! They have restaurant where you can watch the cheetah while eating, and the rest room with many birds surrounding you (through the glass) while you were washing your hands. 3. The animals seemed very happy! Surprised, but the animals there seemed so eager to interact with visitors and not "sleeping whole day" type. I assumed they have expert and staffs trained to treat them well. One of them is a Hippo called "Happy Hippo"... who was running and dancing and swimming around while we were there. 4. It was VERY Cheap! with only 40-60 thousands Rupiah (about 3-4 Euro or 5-6 USD) there was so many things to see and enjoy. Definitely great value. They also provide electric bike when you were too tired to walk. I was so surprised and really hope this zoo will stay well-maintained for years!

When you visit Malang City or Batu City in the East Java,Indonesia you can found so many tourism attractions and Batu Secret Zoo is one of the best. It's not like many other zoo in Indonesia, its better, bigger, cleaner and they have more amazing animals.

The entrance fee is 50.000 in weekday (around 6-7 USD). That fee is included childern rides, and Animal Museum ticket near it. Open at 10:00 am local time.

The best animal collection are : white tiger, albino kangaroo, albino racoon, vicugna, albino peafowl, panther, jaguar, asia elephant, savannah animals, and many variety of rare birds.

You can get there dirrectly by taxi from Malang Airport it cost you around 20-30 USD. But for the back packer tourist - from the airport - you can go to the Arjosari bus station by taxi (7USD), then take a "ADL" public transport (blue cab) dirrectly to Landung Sari Bus Station (cost you Rp 3000 / 50 cents) , then take "BL" cab to Batu Station (cost you 50 cents.) then get an "ojek" (motorcycle transport) that cost you 1 USD or get taxi for 3 USD.

So far i had been visit so many zoo in Asia Region (Singapore Zoo, Al Ain Zoo, Iran Zoo, Dubai Zoo, Ragunan Zoo, Surabaya Zoo, Bandung Zoo, Safari Park 2 East Java) and i thing Batu Secret Zoo is the best zoo in Indonesia andone of the best in Asia.

When handling live animals, a very high standard should be imposed. To keep it short, I find the aquarium container for the green turtles too small and I found a dead seahorse. The snakes skin was not cleaned. The baby tigers used for photo sessions were thirsty. The binturong was scared of the visitors. The meerkats were expecting food from visitors. Someone threw a plastic cup into the otters pool and no one took it out. The lack of animal supervisors worry me.

For Indonesian standard, it is much better for the eyes. The number of animals are amazing and the sights are well planned. But for a zoo that claimed to have international standards, we all should be fairly critical. Dead animals and dirty cages are definitely not part of the international standards.

This zoo needs more animal carers around. I saw none on my visit. Please stop thinking about commercial interests.

This zoo is totally out of my expectation. I'd been to several zoos around the world but this is definitely one of the best. A lot more variety of animals in good condition and well looked after. The zoo is clean and well maintained. It is designed for a comfortable walk while viewing the animals. The zoo museum is a must to visit. I hope it'll still be like this in ten years time.
