We walked the complete trail today from Anse Marcel to the French Dump and stayed a couple of hours almost alone on the beach. The first part of the hike is though the forest on small paths over the hills. Rather steep but a very...More

This was a family outing with pre-teen kids. The hiking trail from Anse Marcel is fun running about 3km in each direction, and you get to experience the wild life of St-Martin that you don't typically see in the agglomerations. The beach itself is very...More

The hike to petite cayes is a single track trail that follows the waterline for much of its distance. There is a bit of a climb in some parts, especially along the beginning from the parking lot near the dump. Wear sunscreen and good shoes....More

This is what all of St Maarten looked like before the mega boom in construction. I lived on the island for a decade in the early 1980s; back then there were still quite some places that were unspoiled. Nowadays, it seems every square foot has...More

Thanks to others for posting directions on this hike. I liked it so much I did it twice on a recent trip to St. Martin. Beach was empty both times, although I did see a few other people along the hike. I didn't spend much...More

The trail, at least from Anse Marcel, has great cactus nd other plant life, with signs identifying the species. The beach is very secluded and pretty, not totally protected from surf, but most people swam comfortably when we were there. Bring water and hiking shoes.

One of the things I had wanted to do was hike to Petites Cayes after seeing it from the catamaran we rented last year. Parking at the Nature Reserve lot just outside the Anse Marcel resort, it is a challenging nearly 2 mile hike to...More
