The tours are only in Spanish or Catalan but the tour guide did his best to help explain in English. Tour lasts about half an hour. Not too claustrophobic if that sort of thing is a concern. Opening times were a bit misleading online. See photo attached for the official 2016 times.

The visit is guided by a local guide. They show you the closed oil mine and explain how it originated.
Very nice guide. Visits are made at an arranged time and in groups. Admission costs 5 euros and lasts a long hour. Everything at street level and easy accessibility. If you are in the area you can take advantage!!

Interesting visit to learn about and delve into an old oil mine that, although it stopped being used very soon, was in fact exploited at the beginning of the 20th century, for only about ten years. Stone extraction was too expensive due to the small amount of oil that was produced. All in all, the visit of just over an hour is very pleasant because you go several meters into the enclosure and the dark walls with stones are clearly visible in which you can see how the black gold oozes. When it falls on water, it remains suspended due to its density. Salamanders and bats live in the cave, due to the good conditions inside and the fact that the water remains pure and clean. The guide explains the formation of these stones from a geological point of view, signs along the route explain more about their history. There is a closed space with a large lake with very beautiful transparent waters. Be sure to go if you are in the area. You have to pay entry, options for groups.
