Beauty place above Bohinj lake. Little but wild Mostnica river flow bites to gorge. You can visit only a small part of this beautiful nature or you can continue from Mostnica gorge over alps valley to waterfall Mostnica. On a route back you will choose trek other site Mostnica gorge.

We really enjoyed this hike. The blue was of the gorge is incredible. We walked up to the first alpine hit to eat and had an authentic meal with an incredible view of the mountains. It took us about two hours round trip.

The path is not organized, not enough signs, very easy to get lost. We met about eight hikers along the way that all got lost as well. Other trails are a lot more interesting and worth the
Money. Furthermore, they don't tell you that parking costs money, and they placed the machine behind a sign so it's not really visible to
all. Then you get a parking ticket and there just happens to be a post office one minute from there. Looks
like someone went to a lot of trouble to make tourists fall for their trick. And the path isn't even worth it.

Had lunch at the wonderful Gostisce Erlah restaurant, Ukanc at the west end of Lake Bohinj. We had been recommended this gorge by the lady at the tourist office in Bohinjska Bistrica and weren't disappointed. We parked in the car park above Stara Furzina but unfortunately missed the entrance to path 7 (it's on the right side of the car park looking up into the mountains - don't go up the track that joins the road like we did). Having made our mistake we carried on anyway and followed the road, taking the right fork after about 500m. The road twists and turns through the forest of pines and larches until it runs out and turns into a track at Planinska koca an Vojah. We didn't have time to continue all the way to the waterfall but turned back down the road and picked up path 7 on the left hand side. The trail didn't disappoint - at this time of year the forest floor was carpeted with hellebores, delicate primulas and wood anemones - and was traversed by bubbling streams. As you descend along the valley the trail works it's way down to run parallel to the gorge carved out by the Mostnica river - the photo opportunities were endless with waterfalls and deep crystal clear pools. It eventually opens up where another river joins it and then you see the snow capped mountains in the distance - heaven! We did this walk as a family group with a senior citizen (a very fit 75 year old) and two children aged 13 and 11 years old.

We had a beautiful day out hiking around Mostnica gorge and waterfall. The gorge is very scenic and naturally beautiful. There is a small fee of €3 each, that is for path maintenance, which felt like money well spent as the paths are clearly well maintained and it is a fraction of the price you will pay at the nearby more touristy places. The path maintenance is excellent - some paths in the mountains can have quite steep drops that are not for the faint-hearted, but this was an easy walk, even for those of you (like me!) who don’t have a good head for heights. We got the public bus to a nearby village and hiked round the lake to the gorge, then hiked up the gorge and up to the waterfall at the end, then back down (there are some sections where you can walk on either side of the gorge, so it was not just walking back the same way!). All in, it was a 16km round trip hike, but the gorge itself can be done more easily if big hikes are not your thing - there are various ways to get there (car parking and coach tours to the start of the gorge) and I think the actual gorge itself is probably only a 5-6km round trip without the additional sections we added on to our walk. I suppose it’s all a question of what you’re looking for - if you want a walk in untouched nature away from the crowds, then this will be perfect, and you can make it as long or short as you need. However if you want a short stroll in a more accessible touristy spot, then maybe the nearby Vintgar gorge will be more your thing. Take your pick - there’s something for everyone in this area :)

We enjoyed a one hour hike in this impressive Gorge, going up on one bank and down on the other.

We chose not to go all the way up to the waterfall, and just crossed on a bridge and turned back.

As guestcard holders - the entrance was free of charge for us.

The first galf from the stara fuzina to the first coffee house is amazing. Walking thru the canyon with great view. 3 km of moderate interesting trecking is a must. The last 2 km ( between the coffee and the waterfall) is somehow a bit boring and the waterfall is ok ( not more)
Total is a very good hiling trail
U can park ur car in the village in order to save the parking fee( too expensive)

We went a bit too late and with two small children, so we selected the route just in the gorge, without going to the waterfall. The walk took about two hours.
The gorge is left as it is, so for the most par you can just look into it from above, not walk inside as in Vintgar, but it is a spectacular view. The path is mainly in the wood (so not too hot even if it is 32C, as it was for us), with many view-points to the gorge (in most of the places, it is just a small path few steps from the main path, so everybody can decide by him/her self whether to go to the viewpoint or not, no signs!) The best part for us was, that we were walking almost all the time alone. There are nice rock formations and fishes in the green river.

We went there by car from our camping at Bohinjska Bistrica, but if you want to safe some money - go by bike, it is not very bad altitudes and parking costs a lot. We believe that it is fare to collect money for the routes, and it is not that much. There is no food or water to buy in the gorge (but I heard there is a nice cafe at the Falls).

We had two hours to spend at this beautiful gorge. The path next to the gorge was perfect. Not a real challenge, but safe and offered opportunities to look closer. The gorge was very varied with parts that had deep narrow walls, wider parts with potholes and also river parts. The walk was relaxing and not crowded at all. As we only had two hours we only walked the Mostnica part and took our time taking photos and enjoying the scenery. Highly recommended walk!

Gorgeous and not crowded (this was in August, mind you) nature trail through a village, along riverbanks, and along emerald green gorges.

Most of the trail was in the shade, which makes it perfect for summer.

It's part of an extensive network of trails throughout the Slovenian Alps, so you can extend the trail to suit your needs. We hiked through the village, to the gorges, and further along to the lovely waterfall.

There's even a restaurant between the gorges ad the waterfall (we did not go in so I cannot review it).

Great for a half-day hike away from the crowds.
