Such a pleasant and peaceful place. This gurudwara is one of the largest in India and probably the largest in south India. It is open 24hrs and they provide langar all these hours. It has such a grand entrance. The water at Amrit kund is so tasty and sweet.

We visited this holy Gurudwara Sahib, where Guru Nanak ji visited during his second travel (Udaasi). He was asked to bless the residents with sweet water and it is said that he hit the ground with his right foot and sweet water started flowing, which is continuing till date. This water source is accessible on the ground floor and Guru Granth Sahib is positioned on the floor above.

The best thing is that devotees are from all faiths. We were happy to see Muslim families in this Gurudwara Sahib.

Free freshly cooked food is available in the langar hall, served with a smile.

Finally, we took Prasad for our friends and relatives.

It is a very huge gurudwara, and maintained really well. You will find peace anywhere here and it feels so sacred, a pool in which you can take a dip and so many rooms if you wanna stay for a night.
Dont miss this if you visit Bidar

Travelled to Bidar on 15 August by taxi from Nanded. Took 2.5 hrs and was a pleasant journey.
Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Sahib, Bidar manager is Giani Darbara Singh (Cell: 9880966845) and website is www.gnjbidar.com. The place has tranquility and is a very peaceful area. Expansion of Gurudwara is going on with construction in progress. There is Sarovar (water tank) for taking holy dip.

During his second Udasi (second missionary tour) of South India about 500 yrs ago, Guru Nanak Dev ji descended on Bidar. The news soon spread throughout Bidar and people started coming to him to have his "Darshan" and seek his blessings. There used to be acute shortage of drinking water which was found to be unfit for drinking. The Guru was greatly moved by the miserable condition of the people. With divine name on his lips and the mercy in his heart he touched the hillside with his toe and removed some rubble from the place. The water of the fountain is collected in a small 'Amrit-Khud' built in white marble. To the utter surprise of all, a fountain of sweet, cool water gushed out of the hillside. The place soon came to be known as 'Nanak-Jhira'. There is a free kitchen (guru ka langar) where free food is given to pilgrims 24 hours night and day. A Sikh museum has been built in the memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur, depicting the important events of Sikh history through pictures and paintings. The management of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib now runs a free hospital, an engineering college, a Polytechnic, a college and two schools, one of them being in Hyderabad.

My first visit to Gurudwara in my whole life-time. After 2 days of visit, I got to know that, this place has more than 500+ years of history. We went inside the gate. Total place was in peace. We stayed inside the hall for an hour or so, listening to the prayers sung by other devotees. We left the place soon.

How to visit:- The Gurudwara is just 1.1 KM distance. It is walkable.

Important:- I did't know that, while entering Gurudwara, we have to cover our hair. But, my friend said to me. So, soon, I took a cloth, which was available inside Gurudwara( no need to pay).

Food:- There are few hotels nearby. We had lunch at a Punjabi Dhaba, near to Gurudwara. The Dhaba was serving only Alu and Gobi parathas. We were three. So ordered 2 parathas each.

Entry Ticket:- There is no ticket. Entry is free. you can donate any amount according to your wish in the counters available inside the Gurudwara.

We try to go to Gurudwara either Bidar or Nanded at least once in a year. The road from Hyderabad has changed and got amazing new highway with Toll Road, which will get you to Bidar in 2.5 hours from Hyderabad which is around 145 kms from Hyderabad.

You got good food joints in between, one place we halted for breakfast was Vindhu Vihar, very neat and hygienic and the food we had in the morning was Idli and Dosa which was delicious. Also they have good and neat bathrooms if anyone wants to get freshh on their way.

The main Gurudwara is still being built, so expecting that to open in a few months. Attaching few photos of the Gurudwara.

Got ample parking space as soon as you enter the Gurudwara.
