We attended a concert and a visit to the astronomy centre. We had the concert first, and the music was ok, but the electric guitar didn’t sound very good. The highlight of the concert was the last song, playing at the open sky. The visit to the astronomy centre afterwards was interesting. The first half we saw what the large telecopes are following, the room was small and too crowded. The second half, we were outside with small telescopes and learning some of the visible planets and some stars. That was great, very didactical.

Centre d'Observació de l'Univers (center of observation of universe, in English) is an astronomical place located in Montsec Mountains, near Àger, a little town, in Lleida region, in Catalonia. Here you can visit the facilities in a guided visit and you can learn a lot about the last discoveries in the universe. In fact, the guided visit has two parts: the first one, you can go to see stars in the telescope (we could see the last discovery of a black hole, pitifully clouds did not help us), and the second one, you go to the planetarium. The visit begins at 00:00h and end at 02:00h, so relax and do not sleep! ;-)

Despite of being quite critical, I only have good word for Parc Astronòmic del Montsec. We were at a session night, at 10 pm, until 12 pm (you can also go to 12pm to 2 am session). We enjoyed a lot watching the Moon and Jupiter trhough a couple of normal telescopes. Arterward we saw some stars really far away through several screens around a professional telescope, we watched a film on a dome and finally we got a surprise.Really really recommendable. A lot of children makes difficult to hear the monitor, because of the noise. Take into account that you must wear winter clothes and you can't book your ticket trhough internet the same day. So if you don't have your tickets, my advice is to buy it before having dinner to be sure that you'll be able to visit the center this day. This opinion is submitted in English because we're not allowed to write it in Catalan (though it's an european language spoken by more than 10 milion people).

A good experience. Guided visit (day o night). It is possuble to see distant stars or planets through the telescopes of this facility. In clear no moon nights, the view of the stars is breathtaking.

We like to go to these observation centers and look a the stars. The visit is split up in two parts, first there is the "planetarium" where they show a video. You actually lay in the seats and they are very comfortable, so I fell asleep, but at the end, they remove the roof so you have an excellent view of the sky with it stars. The second part is a visit to the place where the telescope is and they explain what stars are in the sky, they zoom in on some stars and some in the sky general explanation about the universe of the stars.

Be aware, all sessions are in catalan! Also, they run these session every two hours or so and they are generally fully booked (at least weekends) so be there on time.

Really only one word needed, repeated many, many times.... WOW!

We attended the 22.oo session and what an amazing evening it was. We were lucky to have a totally clear sky that night and the sky was simply amazing. The 3d screening was in Catalunya and unfortunately our headphones did not work for the translation but it really did not matter a jot. The whole evening was truly beautiful. Cannot recommend this observatory highly enough. We stayed nearby in a great little hotel/camping. Ideal.

Once you are in this area, don't miss this place. This place offers you an oportunity to discover the universe in a funny and amazing masterclass. The stuff is so kind and they use tech and audivisuals to teach you. Also you can use their astronomical telescopes at the end of the second part. oh ! and they also give us a surprise! :)

We have been in a few "univers observatories" centers already and I must say this is a special one worth visiting.

We went for the night session (from 22:00 to midnight). We were lucky to have an amazing clean sky which allowed us to enjoy all the activities: observations with the motorized telescope, obsevations with the smaller optical telescopes, 3D movie about space and the -exceptional- dome opening.

Tips:
- Check the forecast before booking.
- Book in advance, esoecially on weekends. You can still buy onsite, but call them to check availabilty.
- Check language of tours: the guides provide very interesting information, but tours are mostly in Catalan

Amazing experience, an educational approach to Astronomy with views trough telescopes. Also, a 3D movie in the Planetarium. Try the night session, and take notice of the weather forecast before the reservation!
