This is an excellent museum exploring many aspects of world war 1. It is thoughtful and has a couple of unusual attractions, no spoiler here. Well worth a two hour visit.

This was my second visit to this outstanding museum set within stunning grounds. Because I like to take my time and immerse myself in the exhibits, I arrived when the doors opened and was the only visitor for the first hour - highly recommended if you are like me! Having visited many WW1 and WW2 museums in northern France and... More

This was my 4th time of visiting this museum and I would go back again. Situated in the town of Ypers just down from the Menim Gate this is a must see if your here. Not to expensive to go in and once in you are transported back in time. They cover all aspects of WW1 from the refugees through... More

An essential "must do" if you are here to learn about what happened here 100 years ago. A very detailed museum providing information on the battles fought, and life in the trenches. Finishes off with a walk though trench reconstructions which gives you some feeling for what it must have been like if you were there. Very highly recommended. For... More

The museum is set in beautiful grounds and is very interesting and informative. The recreation of the trenches and dugouts is a really good way to get a sense of life in the trenches during WW1, particularly for children. There are a good range of exhibits and information is plentiful in many different languages. My only gripe is that some... More

Another superb museum in the WW1 Flanders battlefields. Hosed in the chateau grounds in Zonnebeke near Passchendaele (now Passendale) memorial and Tyne Cot Cemetery. Along with and impressive amount of historical effects well displayed, you are guided into the basement where you are in a reconstruction of the underground world of the trenches. hospital, kitchen officers office and sleeping bunks, just... This is the actual battlefield museum with many recreations of the trenches (allies and German) and underground shelters and living facilities. The entire facility is very informative had is well staffed with knowledgeable personnel.

We enjoyed out visit to the museum. The dugout area is large and very interesting and the setting for the museum is beautiful.

The Memorial Museum Passchendaele is a real gem of a museum that should be visited be anyone visiting the Ypres Salient. It gives a very good overview of the Battle of Passchendaele along with a chance to get a flavour of the atmosphere of the dugouts and the trenches and a whiff of some of the smells. You come away...
