Lovely tour, wonderful restoration. Reasonable price . . . Fun gift shop. A lovely garden, lots of photo opportunities. Interesting stories and the guides are willing to spend extra time answering questions. I did not feel like it was a tourist trap as one review read, it was up to date technology blended with personal touches. I have paid more for a coke and pastry which did not result in such lovely photos. Maybe a place for history lovers and photographers. I enjoyed it immensely.

Specially set up in the grounds of the hotel, you can pre-order tours in different languages. Truly do a marvellous job, and for a guy that usually finds these things a bit boring, I really enjoyed it.

The guided visit helped us to understand the history and the most important parts of the monastery: The church, the cloister, the cellar,....

A disappointing experience. It's an interesting place with a fascinating history and they have a good collection of art and artefacts but the monastery has been turned into a cheesy audio visual experience. You get ushered into the rooms, then the lights go down and videos are automatically projected onto objects and walls. The footage was mainly fake antique cinema with actors. The computer animated imagery was clunky and unconvincing. Only when the high-tech presentation was finished were we permitted to move on to the next room. We were ushered through the buildings from station to station. I just wanted to leave and explore the place for myself. The guide was nice but he didn't really know that much, to be fair he had just started on the job. The experience was expensive too - over 23 euros to attend both the Medieval and Modernista tours. Terrible value for money and an experience I would neither recommend nor wish to repeat. It is a shame as I felt that they had choked the place with technology and in doing so rendered it soulless. It's a video experience housed in a medieval building. I am sure that the 10th century building would have been a much more interesting place 30 years ago than it is today.

Unfortunately our expectations of this hotel were not met at all.
First of all, there's a celiac person and another one who's vegan in my family. We called in advance to make sure they had options for breakfast and at the restaurant for people with dietary restrictions. They said they had several options and was no problem. When we arrived, to our surprise, they only had 1 option and gave us a vegan menu for 29€ that includes a tofu burger that costs 2€ at the supermarket (I buy it at home) and no desert (they finally arranged some fruit for us). The regular menu which included many meat and fish options, and various elaborated deserts was also 29€, so it felt like a rip off. Moreover, the bread for celiacs was brought to our table with a paper bag, you could tell it was warmed up in a microwave, served with cold spots. Given the location of the place (in the nearest town 10 minutes away from the hotel, Manresa, there's a well known bread store called Forn de Pa Jorba that has been making and shipping gluten free bread for the last 20 years) where there's big tradition of making bread and the amazing gluten free options that exist, we don't understand how a hotel that brands itself as luxury/high end can serve bread like that and a tofu burger from the supermarket.
Breakfast was another low point: there was absolutely no gluten free options besides fruit.
The servers and personnel in general did not know about allergens, did not have a friendly, ready-to-serve attitude and overall we were pretty disappointed with the service and food in a "high-end" restaurant/hotel.

The place where the monastery is, is pretty. The visit is with a guide and the highlight is an audio-visual show and that is all. What you are allowed to visit apart from that is very limited. I think it is not worth the 10 euros that you have to pay. And for 40 minutes max. of duration.
There are other more useful ways to spend 10 €.

Imagine a burgeois summer house in a part of a romanic monestry. Add some paintings and rich furniture belonging to this rich family Cases, who restored the building with care and love. then add some histories related to the owner who was a famous modernist painter worldwide recognized...and on the top, add the rest of the amazing building, state of the art lighting technology and amazing surroundings... Anything best away from the buzz of the city. Really and gradly surprised.

I went to see the live representation of the Jesus Birth and I was astonished about how good job they have done for this play. I recommend it fully.

The visit to this old monastery with a lot of history it was sold to the rich family of a famous painter, Ramon Casas, and finally bought by a bank and transformed in a place for visit. The guide was very nice and the tour went to the main places: monastery, the church, the cloister, the bodega where the monks manufactured wine. The property is very well preserved and it was a pleasure to be there.
