One can make a boat trip between the ice rocks, slowing floating towards the sea, or have a hike next to the lagoon, fantasizing about what you can see in the shape of the ice rocks. We preferred to walk, for then one can enjoy...More

Spent 10 days in Iceland, both on the Southern aspect and the Westfjords. Jokulsarlon Lagoon and "Diamond Beach" across the road were the most beautiful things we saw. Truly incredible the colours of the ice chunks. From dark blue, to crystal clear, they are amazing....More

We had such a good time on a zodiac tour of the lagoon. The driver/guide was very knowledgeable and the icebergs were amazing. On the zodiac you get a good close-up, water-level view of everything. But if you don't like speed parts of the ride...More

This lagoon was on our way to Höfn and we are really very glad we saw it. It is unique place you won't be finding very often and it shines with its beauty. Very recommendable!

Seals swimming among icebergs floating on a prestine lake at the foot of a magnificent glacier. Nature at its awesome best.

If you're even remotely close, please go see this! It is unbelievably amazing. Even on a cloudy day, you get stunning blues and whites from the chunks of glacier floating in the lagoon. Words can't even do this place justice.

Between the lagoon and the diamond beach, the sights were awesome. Unlike anything I've even seen. Wish we would have taken a boat tour out in the lagoon. Bring your camera, but don't forget to just sit, relax, and take it all in!

The icebergs at the Jökulsárlón have different colors and patterns, and the feeling in the lagoon changes dramatically with light. I suppose the boat tour is personal preference but if you are on a tour from the city (as many are) then time might be...More

You can 100% drive here and walk around. You can buy boat tours which take you out on the lagoon but we walked around unaided. The paths are far enough away from the lagoon that the season won’t matter :) Have fun! Safe... More

My answer is nuanced by our very recent cruise to the base of glaciers in Greenland, where we saw calving, and upthrust falls (amazing) from zodiacs. Still, we really enjoyed the lagoon. As an earlier answer said, seeing... More
