We booked an Omo Vally trip for 7 days 6 nights. On the first day, the staff will pick us up at the airport. to check in at the hotel
The first morning, we had a full day tour of Addis Ababa.
The next day we fly to the city of jinka. Upon arriving at the airport, Mr. Mamaru rushed us to the airport. He greeted me like a native. By thrusting their fists against each other and embracing, which gives a friendly feeling. We set off with a Toyota Land Cruiser to the Omo Valley. We arrived in Trumi, where there was a flea market the day we arrived. Many townspeople come to shop. Selling amazing products. Very exciting. In the evening we had a visit to the Harmer tribe village. We were very welcomed. And watch the way of life of the Harmer tribe. In the evening, we stay at Emerald Lodge where we will stay here for 3 nights.
The following day, we visited a village of the Karo tribe, which is characterized by its hand-painted patterns and faces. We went to Omorate, near the Kenyan border. Take a village boat on the Omo river to visit the Dassanech tribe, culturally similar to the Maasai tribe, visit the Arbore tribe on their way to Key Afer.
The highlight of a tribal visit to Omo Valley is the bull jumping ceremony of Harmer tribe, which takes place as the boy progresses to become a young man. ready to have a family which we do not miss to be able to attend this great ceremony.
We came to visit the famous Mursi tribe, where women pierced their lips to put a clay bowl on their lips. Which is considered an important piece of jewelry and adds beauty to her.
7 days 6 nights we gained knowledge and get help from Mamaru as well and if there is a chance We will definitely visit again.

We travelled as two couples for a special trip in southern Ethiopia and mainly among the tribes in the Omo Valley. Mamaro and Gobi ,the excellent driver, met us immediately after landing in Addis Ababa and we started driving south. The trip was a once in a lifetime experience for us. We arrived on the Timket Holiday and Mamaro gave a traditional white scarf to each of us, so at the holiday events we felt like we belonged to the community. Mamaro planned the trip so that we were lucky to watch the coming of age ceremony at the Hamer tribe, a ceremony in which the man jumps over the bulls. The celebration lasts for two days. We stayed in a lodge which was next to the place of the celebrations and we got to see everything up close .
Every tribe has something special that characterizes him and Mamaro took us to many tribes in the Omo Valley .He was very attentive to our requests, very considerate, friendly, punctual, and together with the excellent driver, we had an amazing trip that we will never forget. We got to know an interesting way of life and very far from our familiar one.
Thank you Mamaro for everything. We will keep memories for ever. It was our pleasure to have this uniqe trip with you.

We spent 12 days with Mamaru and his driver Gobe visiting the numerous tribes in different parts of Ethiopia. Mamaru organized our visits to the villages at different times or locations so we did not meet any other tourists per our request.
The interactions we had with the people were astonishing, pleasent and sincere.
Memories we will keep for always.
We also saw a lot of different landscapes and Gobe is an excellent driver, we felt safe and confortable.
Mamaru chose our lodging in accordance to our budget.
Thanks to Mamaru and Gobe, we also discovered the delicious Ethiopian food from the fruits on the road to the different restaurants (I really miss the injera) as well as the unique coffee prepared in front of us (from the green beans to the cup).
Mamaru is an excellent guide, he perfectly answered our requests and adapted to all situations... futhermore he is a very generous man with a easy and natural contact with everyone.
We had with them, a marvellous 2 weeks.
Thank you ❤

We spent a fabulous week with the Surma tribe, close to the small town of Kibish. Camping close by a river, I was looked after magnificently by Mamaru, the Guide, Mike the Driver and Elmi the wonderful Cook. The Surma people were incredible and so friendly. Mamaru made sure I saw some really memorable events, such as a Donga stick fight, a village wedding ceremony and a blood drinking ceremony. Mamaru was well organised, charming and attentive and as a result the week for me was fabulous. If you want an unusual tour to a remote part of Ethiopia, I really recommend Mamaru and his excellent team.

I have just had the huge pleasure of spending more than 2 weeks with Mamaru and his team (driver + cook), visiting the tribes of the Omo Valley.
Almost immediately it felt like we had known each other for a long time and it was just like going on a road trip with good friends.
Mamaru has in-depth knowledge about all the tribes and knows which places to visit if you want to get a bit off the beaten track.
Also, he and the team were always flexible so we could make changes that made the trip better.
I can highly recommend Mamaru to anyone wishing to visit the famous tribes of the Omo Valley :-)

Mamaru's motto : "Tell me what you want before because after is to late". He showed me plenty of splendid landscape and tribes from Omo valley to Bale Mountains, enjoying, good places to stay, camping and wildlife watching (Abyssinian Wolves...). He knows very well the region, people and can give lots of explanation about this.
Beni the driver is also very professionnal and very good driver, slaloming between animals, people and bad roads. I realy enjoyed the trip.

Our trip around the Omo Valley has been the most amazing and unique experience of our lifetime. Mamaru is passionate and very experienced about the tribes and the stories of this special regions (and other ones we hope to experience later with him again!). Also, he has been very protective, dedicated and adorable during those 10 magical days. And the ‘driver’ he selected for the car has been very gentleman and careful all along the journey. Sandra and I will never forget this very first part of our World Tour and we already miss those 2 guys!
We definitely recommend Mamaru as the best Ethiopian guide ever!
Will come back.

I was traveling solo, for south had only two full and two half days, but according to my flight schedule, Mamaru had made very rich and varied program. Mamaru and driver Benjamin (Beni) is very professional team and I have felt all the time safe and comfortable. Both of them originate from the local tribes, knows locals and bring to off trail routs. The camping with Banna tribe family and the evening spend with them was something unreal and true. I would definitely recommend Mamaru&Beni to everyone, especially if you want to avoid touristic tribal routes.

I embarked on a 10-day trip to Omo Valley in November with Mamaru. We visited the different tribes in different areas of Omo Valley such as Turmi, Konso, Omorate, Key Afer, Jinka, and sometimes had local guides from each tribe explaining and showing me around the places where the tribes lived. Other than that, we visited other places such as the vibrant Key Afer market (which was only available on Thursdays), the beautiful Lake Chamo on a sunny afternoon with sunbathing crocodiles and hippos, and Lake Langano on our way back to Addis Ababa. It was a very different trip from usual where one would expect to do lots of sightseeing and activities - while I saw a lot on the way, it could be considered as more of a cultural and educational trip where I learnt about the different cultures and lifestyles of the various tribes residing in Omo Valley. Not only was it exciting, it provided a great introduction to the beautiful country of Ethiopia, its people and food, which I still miss to this day.
All of this would not have been achieved without Mamaru's experience and professionalism. He and his equally professional and friendly driver, Tsegaye were very knowledgeable and often explained and answered my questions regarding what we saw on the road, the local tribes and Ethiopian culture/history. Not only did I learn from the tribes themselves, I learnt from Mamaru too - he felt more like a knowledgeable friend than a guide. Mamaru was very helpful too, often assisting to take pictures of me with the local tribes (while being a solo traveller is awesome, taking pictures can be a pain sometimes!) and accommodating my impromptu requests at will. The itinerary offered by Mamaru is flexible as well, as we did the itinerary backwards and he is open to bringing you to different places outside of the itinerary, as long as its within reason to do so. If you visit the tribes, you would know that the tribes charge a small fee to have their pictures taken - sometimes people from the tribes may appear to be a little aggressive in demanding payment from you, but Mamaru does a competent job of talking to them and making sure you are able to take all the photos you want in peace.
Mamaru is a great guide who will do his best to ensure your money is well-spent and that you have a great time and stay in Ethiopia. Strongly recommended.
