A beautiful place to visit, with each and every attraction are pure natural, Water flowing through the rocks at different depth . and a short distance to walk through the thick forest. But this place is not open to visitors during the rainy season because of the heavy rainfall and water overflow. and in summer because of the shallowness of the water.

We went with a hope of visiting this lovely island formed by kabini river.
The ride to this place was awesome ( we drove from tholpetty), through thick forests, lovely fresh coffee estates and beautiful houses decked up for th holiday season.
Nearest town is kartikulam,mananthavady.
Sadly now the ride to the island is shut down by the eco tourism department ,however you have bamboo rafting facility available here .all you have to do is just sit in the bamboo boat and scroll through it.
The water is deep and filled with crocodiles so they provide a life jacket. Duration of the ride is 15minutes.
It's worth it if your looking up for new experiences, it's open only till 4pm post which they shut down.
Nice place to chill and take photos.
There r plenty of hotels around the area .also they have a zip lining activity as well.

A bit away from the regular. The drive to the place is quite good. Once you reach, there is a car park ground and good rest rooms. Buy some tickets and off for the walk to the bamboo boats. The boats are operated by pulling around some ropes.
There is a good attempt to limit foot fall. Some 500 odd visitors a day (including the east and west entrance).
There is a small walking path with some swings on the way. A couple of bamboo bridges. The trees are labelled with the plant variety.
You then reach a clearing where rocks bridge the river stream. Folks wade knee deep to reach across the rocks and indulge in some photography.
More can be done to make it informative.

NO USE. firstly its very far from other tourist spots of wayanad, and then bamboo boat will take you for 10 mins.
You travel for 1 hour to reach the place and then boating for 10 mins, not at all worth.
Rowing of boat also not there, they use ropes to move the boat.

We were on a road trip to Wayanad from Mumbai, all excited to visit Kuruvadweep. We had heard a lot about it. We went there only to know that only 200 people are allowed on the island daily. Tokens are issued at 6:30am daily. Our hotel was very far from the island, so we missed it. There is no facility of advance booking or internet-booking. You have to go to the ticket window there to book.
Kuruva island is very beautiful, if you get to visit it.

I could not get to see the place as the tokens required to view the place got over by 6.30 AM.
Cons:
1) Reach the place before or 6.30 AM (very early morning), to get the tokens (for viewing the place). Site seeing starts from 9.30 AM
2) Max. allowed people in a day are 200
3) 4 batches of 50 people (total 200 people in a day) are allowed to view the place, so can't plan much of site seeing if you are in the 3rd or 4th batch.
This place was 44 KM from the hotel where we were staying (at Kalpetta) and were not aware of the above mentioned rules, hence did not get a chance to view the place. When we reached we got to know about the above mentioned rules. Travelling early morning to get the token and then wait till 9.30 AM for site seeing, I am not sure how feasible this idea is. I had seen people who had got the token (as they came before 6.30 AM), but were waiting till 9.30 AM for site seeing to start.
There is a pay and use toilet, if you want to freshen up there and do not want to go back to the hotel.
Do plan your other sight seeing based on the batch you are allocated to.

You will enjoy the water spot in kuruvadweep, to which you will have to walk a kilometer for sure. Since its a forest kinda road you will be feel tired. Once you reach the water spot you can spend time relaxing by playing and placing yourself in the flowing water.

This place is I think the icing on the cake called Wayanad! Nestled quietly away from the hustle bustle of the centre of the main parts of Wayanad. It's kind of a pseudoisland if I can put it so. The kabini river splits to enclose a piece of land and viola u have kuruva island. there are limited seats(only 200 a day) so make sure u get there before 7.30 AM or so to make sure u get this place. The place actually opens around at 9.30 am . Be prepared to while away 2 hours till the first trip begins.the giant bamboo sorta Catamaran makes multiple trips to ferry people to and fro the island. This is strictly a no plastic no food place. So if u traveling with children make sure u feed them well before u go to the island because on the island there is nothing to eat. Would highly recommend the aunty just outside the opening of the kuruva island who sells home made puttu and chana curry. The trail within the island is about a kilometre or so. Nothing much to see till we reach the banks of the river. Lots of slippery rocks are present so be careful while you step in. Nature at its best.

Currently closed due to rainy season...so don't waste your time in exploring other parts of wayanad....we done a long drive (more than 1 hour )from Edakkal caves to Kuruwadeep hearing Kuruwadweep ticket counter used to close by 4pm.....even around 2km drive was through very bad road conditions......after reaching Kuruvadweep near Forest department entrance very isolated place initially ..then saw one or 2 bike riders there looking for entrance /searching anyone to enquire.....finally found 2 officers n a small tea shop near dweep ...After inquiring got to know now its closed due to rainy season from past 3 months and may open in Dec /Jan & present paddy field may turn to parking area in summer....While talking to them got to know there is crocodile ,wild elephants too there in the area...thats why electric fencing around .....It seems once one,who tresspassed died also there with the flow of water...after that for all rainy season it will be closed as per the order.Since there is few more incidents happened there which taken the life, there is limited access inside the dweep once it open...wont be able to access n enjoy like 3-4 years back...But still location looked awesome....Would like to visit in Jan or Feb....

Is it open during October 2023 ??
And at what time should we reach there ?
Written October 22, 2023
You need to plan and reach between 7 to 7:30 am so that you can stand in the queue to get entry tickets. There are only limited number of tickets issued each day. If you are able to find some local tour agency to help with this, then probably you can afford to reach later around opening time, ie, 9 am.
I am not aware of any seasonal closures but you can check with your hotel probably. They should be able to provide this info

There is no means to book this online or to book beforehand. One needs to physically go there and queue up early on the morning of your planned visit. Note : there are only limited tickets issued per day, so one needs to reach early - we reached before 7:30 am. I think there are some local agents who have people queue up on your behalf but I could not find any information on that - my comment is based on my own personal experience where I saw people enter Kuruvadweep along with us though they were not present in the ticket counter queue.
